Anyone having problems with internet and signal on their mobiles this few days, it's getting ridiculous now. I'm heading to CW today to kick up a stink and try to terminate my contract ,their signal and coverage is beyond a joke especially when they said their coverage was good in my area. Any advice/ammunition welcome. ;-)
 
I've had several friends over the past two weeks leave 3 for EE. 3 is just beyond a joke now. If you ring them up you will probably get some ignorant dimwit on the phone. The guys in the 3 store said the best way to dealing with them when cancelling a contract is just to be rude to them. My friend rang them up on loud speaker and they wouldn't cancel his contract because eventually they will be getting 4G coverage and improve their 3G, but then he told them were to shove their "eventually" and they soon did what he asked.

I'm with EE and I've never really had any problems with 4G coverage where it's available.

I'm with 3 and get good fast 3G coverage in almost all places I need to. I can't see what 4G would give me that I don't already have. I can stream YouTube and Sky over the network at high quality without any buffering. So what's the benefit of 4G?
 
Its going to be a face to face deal this morning so hopefully there's a queue behind me lol,I've read else where that 3 try to blame the handset and use that excuse. I'm paying £32/month for a crap service,not what I signed up for.
Not really bothered about 4g ,when 3 work it's really fast, key word is WHEN!!!!

I was with my friend who was wanting to leave 3 and we went in to store. They told him he had to ring 3 and that they couldn't do anything in store. We might have gotten a numpty in store though. There's been nothing but complaints about 3mobile over the past few months around my area.

I'm on three. I've not noticed it being any worse.
 
Their signal indoors is dire also....
 
3 is on 1800 mhz so indoor signal will be worse than voda or o2 and virtuals as they use more of the 900mhz bands.

You are confused, Three actually run on 2100MHz, as does Vodafone, O2, EE and all the virtual networks for 3G.

Remember the 3G auction in 2000? It was the sale of the 2100MHz spectrum for 3G services.

1800MHz was for 2G use by T-Mobile and Orange (now EE), their 3G runs on 21000MHz as I mentioned and some 1800MHz has been refarmed to 4G. EE should also be commencing 4G rollout on 800MHz soon.

900MHz was for 2G use by O2 and Vodafone, some 900MHz was refarmed to 3G but it is only a small amount, the majority of their 3G is on 2100MHz and their new 4G networks are on 800MHz.

The only 1800MHz that Three have is the chunk of spectrum that EE were forced to sell last year which Three have used for the initial roll out of 4G services, they will be supplementing it with 800MHz from the 4G auction like EE will.

If CW means CarPhoneWarehouse, don't waste your time, they merely resell for Three, and have absolutely no control over the actual contract, you can rant and rave all you like but it will be a useless exercise. In fact, even going into a Three branded shop would.

If your service is as bad as you say, ie. NO coverage at all after having had service in the last, you can try writing into the CEO's office, either as an email or by post, lay out your argument rationally and make valid points why you feel they should cancel. If you are persuasive enough they might allow it (or offer you a signal box to use at home).

Remember the terms do make the point it is a mobile service and not guaranteed to work at any specific location. Having said that, some people have managed early termination through the chief exec's office in the past.

A detailed review of work under the European COST 231 programme by Ericsson concluded that building penetration loss at 1800 MHz is typically 2 dB higher than at 900 MHz. The review considered papers by Technische Universität Wien (A), Aalborg University (DK), CSELT (I), Telefónica Investigación y Desarollo (E), Telia Research and Ericsson Radio Systems (S), British Telecom Research Laboratories, The University of Liverpool, and The University of Leeds (UK) and others (See References 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13).

That's it. Leaving them is pretty much impossible for an average polite person.
 
Mobile network providers are not allowed to refuse you a PAC code. Three are ridiculous, they lie to you as well.
When i was with them I upgraded over the phone, I hated the handset, rang them the day after it arrived and told them i wanted to return it. They proceeded to tell me that i had no cooling off period and that I had to keep it, I explained that I was covered under the distance selling regulations to which they told me "3 don't have that"
They didn't have a clue, they flat refused to acknowledge the distance selling regulations applied to them.
I went into a three store and they weren't much more clued up, they didn't have any knowledge as they dont need it, but i managed to ring three customer service from the store and complained for 45 minutes until they finally conceeded. Worst customer service I've ever encountered, absolutely abysmal (not the store, but their phone customer service)
I work for EE and I have to admit its a lot better now than when EE first launched. Far fewer people calling to return handsets which is obviously a good sign.
Even though three's 3G coverage is decent, I wouldn't go near them again due to their lack of care.

Problems are expected with new companies, but the way I see it is that if they can afford to do the adverts on TV then surely they must be alright lol. I've got a sim only plan with EE and I've had no problems. I'm still waiting to get the Xperia Z2 to put the sim in.

My upgrade is due end of may so I'm waiting to see what comes out, I cracked my screen on my HTC one X and have needed a new phone for about 2 months now but there's no way im paying to get out of my contract early to upgrade it. It still works i just cant see the screen very well lol. The experia Z2 is looking promising mind .....

You do realise that has pretty much nothing to do with the thread?

You are confusing technologies quite badly with your "common knowledge", while lower frequencies might penetrate into buildings better it has very little to do with 3G.

No bother here. And no difference between indoors and outdoors.

And Three have been a delight to deal with compared to most of the others (O2, Orange and especially Vodafone).

Same experience here. Sometimes it s even faster than my home broadband
 
We were with 3 for many years and never really had any issues - unless you had a problem and it was a bit of a pain in the proverbial trying to speak to someone.

Put daughter on Tesco mobile (O2) a couple of years ago due to price and what they were offering as a package was perfect for what she anted - she used to be on O2, but when her contract came up, they couldn't match what Tesco were offering and the sales guy recommended I take up Tesco's offer. She has had no issues whatsoever an if we have needed to speak to someone, very easy and they've known what they were doing. In view of this me and the wife both swapped from 3 end of last year and although the 3G coverage isn't quite as good up in the hills of Yorkshire, everywhere else we're getting a better 3G reception, faster loading and (probably imaginary) but a better looking / brighter / crisper page viewed as well...
 
I'm with Three and I've had nothing but great service on the few occasions I've had to get in touch with them. I've been considering going to EE for their 4G in my area but the terrible stories I've heard of their service has put me off (along with the price of a brand new contract).

Like most things, the people with bad experiences tend to be the most vocal and I suspect there's not much between the major providers in terms of customer service quality.
 
Well still no mobile internet and crap reception. Was told problem would be sorted today,received tx from 3 stating the problem has been sorted today,problem still exists. Phone 3to listen to a heap of waffle about this that and the other BS. Told them point blank that i'm not paying another penny and i want my contract terminated as off now..hey presto i'm no longer a 3 mobile customer.......

I am with 3 and have been for years. I have a business phone with EE on 4G. When in the city it is excellent but pretty much unusable out in the sticks.

Always had good signal with 3 until recently when the local tower sas moved which killed the signal inside the hkuse.

A chat with 3 ended with their sending me a free home signal booster which was plugged into my router and it created a hotspot inside the whole house with thick internal walls and 24-30 inch external walls. we have 4 users of the 3 network and full signal everywhere.

The booster send calls via the broadband connection and as we have BT Infinity 2 unlimitex its bandwidth use causes no issue or cost.

Price - £0

Reliability - 100%

Outside of the house we have good reception.

3 have alway been very good and egotiating on renewals I have unlimkted internet, 2000 minutes and 5000 texts 5000 minutes 3 to 3 calls and 5000 texts 3 to 3. Kept my Galaxy S2 rather than upgrade.... monthly price - £14.50

SWMBO is on an £8 monthly deal as she wanted tk keep her Blackberry. Lower minutes and texts but no extra charges yet.

I will stick with 3!

I've heard lots of complaints about 3. I have a friend on 3, and has been for a while, and never had any problems though.

I'm with EE - it's great. If you're looking for a top network, EE is your one.

Depends where you are.
I have a Galaxy S4 LTE 4G on EE

Brilliant in Bristol on 4G

Abslute rubbish where I live and 5 miles around

3 on the other hand gives me H+ 3G outside the house and, as above, full service inside the house with the Home Signal Booster.

If I had to pay for my EE phone service I would have taken a side grinder to it and araldited the pieces to the nearest EE shop window...

We have Three for our mobile broadband, it is the best we have tried for signal everywhere. However for voice it seems crap and my dad who went to three is coming back to Vodafone.
 
I've been with all the major networks over the years. All mobile networks are incompetent chiselling aerosoles, no exceptions. So I just choose the least worst these days.

From most horrific wastes of space to least:

Vodafone (Had a BB Storm (yeah, yeah, I know, I should have seen that one coming) with them, had the devil's own job to get them to accept that it just didn't work, expensive, crap signal)
O2 (Rubbish network, expensive plan, but at least getting out was easy)
Orange (Were OK until they turned into EE, then the signal turned to dung and their plans followed suit)
T-Mobile (Pleasantly average in all aspects - my wife's phone is still with them, but that will have to change because they're now EE)
3 (Good signal, unlimited data, cheap plans)

I'm currently with 3, and have no plans to move. I've got unlimited data that works, and I'm OK with that.

Just so long as you never want or need to speak to customer services. Since the Orange/T-Mobile/EE merge their customer services has become absolutely abysmal (not that Orange had much customer service after the FT takeover).

It's now a bare minimum of what they can get away with at the lowest possible price point.

It's funny you should say that, because I think they are the best cellular customer service I've ever had.

At one time I had realised I pocket dialled several times from abroad and had run up about £9 for a total of 1 minute 54 seconds.
I managed to talk to EE via live chat from abroad, and they agreed to waive the charges.

They even went out of their way to setup a voicemail pin for me over Twitter, which they usually only do by phone - but the customer service rep found a loophole.
