That's all it takes to boil the blood in any photographer thats is at least a hobbyist or more.

What are those 3 words? o_O

CAMERA BAG INSERTS!!! :mad::confused:

Picture this........

You order a lovely new bag for your camera gear. You spend a week waiting for it to turn up and then....."YES!! It's here!" So you tear apart the packaging (with all the finesse of a mountain goat on ice). "This is great"! Right let's set up the inserts to how I want it for my gear......

Okay, so this bit can go there.... That bit can go there... and then... Nope, that doesn't work. :(

Okay, so let's try that there.....and then this here..... and then that leaves room for this.....but oh, wait.......what about that. Ah Crap! Start again!

Okay, how about this........ :shifty:

(You get the idea!)

Fast forward 30 mins, and inserts are now being launched across the room, and you find yourself saying "How can they call themselves a bloody camera bag manufacturer when they can't even design simple inserts the right size for my gear. Bloody Useless people!" :banghead:

So does this sound familiar to anyone else or is just me getting worked up over nothing? Maybe that's what the Hokey Cokey was REALLY all about. "You put the short bit in, You take the long bit out, in, out, in, out, and throw it down the stairs"
Any
way, rant over :dummy: and you'll be glad to know I finally did get it set up how I wanted it (ish), and it only took me 2 hours! :runaway:

Haha! That did make me chuckle! Have had the same situation with some bags! Especially when they make some really odd sized inserts that question what you are meant to be putting in your bag!

Some one needs to invent universal inserts on a roll, that you can cut to size and thereby expose a velcro hook ends.

Could be done is the divider was in effect two rolls of soft backed velcro wound face to face with a thin middle strip of receiver material.
It could be cut to length and a centimetre length of the centre material removed and the sides folded outward, to firmly attach anywhere in the case.
such material could make any shape or size compartment.

I had the exact same problems with the last 2 bags I bought - luckily I had a pile of spare inserts from previous bags and using those, some scissors and needle & thread I got what I wanted :)

You get a similar situation when a shiny new (to you) lens gets delivered.

Having checked it out and you look to see where it will fit in the bag, an so the process of swap and curse begins anew :(

(with the addition of "where did I put those spare dividers..." mutterings)

IMG_0856.JPG Something like that you mean???

Right, so come one then. Let's see your setups. I'll start with some of mine.

Far too many open spaces in those bags Tim, you obviously need to buy some more camera gear! ;)

Those are usually all full mind you! But, if you think I need to get more gear, then I'd better tell the wife you said so!

Team work, Tim, team work! (y) (I just hope she's not violent and finds out where I live!). :D

After similar frustration with my first (of many!) bag, I now remove all the dividers, lay the intended contents out in the nude bag then arrange the inserts to fit. I always try to ensure that the main camera slot can take the body with the longest lens fitted and have a slot for that lens elsewhere as well. I haven't bought a new bag for ages - just moved systems around to fit the bags I have.

Been there, with many bags. I always end up with a bunch of spares and a really ham-fisted in-bag set up.

It's less of a problem if you don't make the assumption that all of the dividers have to be used at the same time. It's not a jigsaw.

This made me laugh out loud! :D

I have a Lowepro 200 which suits me fine size wise but the velcro in the bag doesn't go where I want the insert to be to be able to put my cam in with my 300 on. I've done the Hokey Cokey quite a few times and put it away in frustration!

How annoying but glad to see it's not just me either
