Forget it, don't waste your money, it probably would not be compatible, if it did fit, then no autofocus, unless you bought one of the non communicating TCs and IQs would be very poor.

Cheapest option is to look at one of the sigma lenses like the 120-400mm or 150-500mm, but you are talking about £400-700 (new or used prices vary).

There's no cheaper option to get to 400 or 500mm with reasonable images.

cheers for that pete, i am lokking at a tamron 150-500mm lens now i had heard the tc was not a good option cheers

Hi Bazza, welcome to the forum, I have one of the Sima 150-500 OS lenses and for birds and wildlife, as well as aircraft it's outstanding. I got mine from www.panamoz.com and can be had for around £600 new. I had a Canon 100-400 IS L as well, unfortunately one of them had to go, and when I compared it with the Sigma I decided to keep the Sigma as I rated it so highly. Here's a link to panamoz if you're interested http://panamoz.com/index.php/hot-de...m-for-canon-digital-and-film-slr-cameras.html

another vote for the Sigma 150-500mm OS lens, for sony- I use an a 700

- its superb, forget a x2 TC waste of money and I doubt it would fit your present lens to be honest

Les

thanks for replys i have bought a170-500mm sigma lens of an auction site waiting for it to be delivered so i can try it out fingers crossed for good results
