Yes
I have a D90 now and am thinking of getting a second body to take with me to motorsport events. My first thought was get another D90 but I have also seen relatively low use D200 and D2x that I could get. Or I could lump it with one for now and just keep saving until I could afford the D300 that I am lusting after. Or even a D700 though that could take years to save for :S What would you opt for?

I would probably go for another D90. It would be very useful to have identical cameras with different lenses on so that the body handling was instinctive swapping one for the other, although it's equally useful having one FF body and the other Dx. Not sure how many 2nd hand D90s there are around at the moment - a quick peek at recent ads (Mifsuds and Ffordes) in AP doesn't show any. The loss you'll make on buying a new one would probably add rather a lot of time onto the saving wait for a D300 or even D700, although by then there will probably be plenty of them on the 2nd hand shelves.

a D300 would be a good choice as the higher ISO would be better than the noisier D200 and the Dynamic tracking AF is superior than a D90/D200.

I went from a d200 to a d300, I loved the d200 but it does not get that much use now, it is my second body. The only thing I can see is you get the d300 and then you will want a second one to replace your d90. :D

If money is tight I would say D200. Essentially the same body as the D300/D700 . In good light your D90 will not be used . When you have used the D200 body the D90 will seem like a step backwards when you use it. The D90 of course has the high ISO and video capability , but in good light the D200 will get you the shots .
