2nd hand prices- 350D and 40D?

I currently have a 350D which isn't standing up to the amount of work I need it to, so am considering upgrading to a 40D.

350D is 2 years old, good condition (will get it all checked over before I sell it), also have a battery grip which I can either sell with it or separately. Comes with all manuals, box, strap, leads etc etc.

I've found a 2nd hand 40D for £500 in top condition, complete with manual, leads, strap, box. I really want to find a 40D before they are completely replaced by the 50D as this is currently well out of my budget!!

So what could I expect to get privately for the 350D? Would you say the 40D is a good price? I'm no good with 2nd hand prices but it doesn't seem too bad?

That price is not good at all! You can get it brand new with a warantee for £69.99 extra, £70 for piece of mind knowing it's brand new and if anything happens it's under warantee :thumbs:

Never personally had experience with these, but i was e-mailing them while considering buying a lens from them and they seemed great :) e-mails always replied within the hour!!

I would expect a used 40d to sell for £400-450; or £500 with a battery grip. Low usage, in mint condition.

Indeed, even i'm looking for a lot less than that for my old 40D!

Well worth the upgrade from the 350D, i loved my 40D, but the 50D is so much better imo. :)
 
I've upgraded from a 350D to a 40D. I enquired with Mifsuds and Jacobs on part ex for the 350D and genuine grip both in excellent condition. Mifsuds offered me £150 maximum and Jacobs told me the 350D is worth next to nothing second hand and it's worth me keeping it as a spare body.

I bought my brand new 40D for £580 from the Camera Centre in Cardiff so your second hand one for £500 seems a tad expensive.

Hmm ok looking at prices £500 2nd hand is expensive.

Several 350Ds have gone on ebay for the £200 mark, with the grips going separately for about £60-70. I will have to sell the 350D to buy a 40D so keeping it as a 2nd body isn't an option, I just don't have another £260 odd lying around.
