28mm f2.8 macro.

The older pentax lenses are usually pretty good so I'd say it's worth a punt if you've got a bit of spare cash at the mo. Exactly how much it's worth is all down to how much use you think you'll really make of it.

Is it a real macro? If so it could be a lot of fun. At 28mm it's not going to give you much working room for insects and moving stuff but for getting in close to lovely textures it would be great. :)

Why don't you post up a link to the auction. Someone on here will probably know if it's the right mount.

Do the Pentax DSLR's take the normal pentax K mount?

That "usually" means that the aperture will not stop down automatically, so as you look through the camera and turn the lens ring you'll see the image darken and DoF increase.

I have a few like that for my Mamiya and I've never found it a problem. On mine they also lock the camera metering into spot mode, which again is not really a problem for me. I doubt you'd get that little quirk though on yours though tbh.

I have a couple of M42 lenses with the M42-EOS converter. (canon)

They work fine but you have to manual focus and manually change the aperture. £25 does seem alot for an older manual lens. I only paid £3 for my Pentacon 50/1.8 and about the same for the Makinnon 28/2.8

TBH though, I hardly use them as the manual focus (for me) was too much of a faff.

Both of the Pentax branded lenses are going to be pretty good. I tried a number of M lenses back when I was shooting Pentax Digital all the primes I tried were great. Just got to remember you going to be step down metering.

That last lens is AF and should be very good. I had a FA 28-70 F4 Pentax lens that was very good in every way except for build quality.

The non Pentax branded lenses... Stay away. Very very far away.

Learn to use your 18-50 properly before buying more kit, then you'll realise what its limitations are and how to rectify them - if indeed there are any!

Buying old cheap stuff is daft at this stage, Centon, Sirius, etc. are like using milk-bottles compared to what you've already got - there's a reason they are cheap... they are crap

Glass, good glass, is probably more important than the camera - cheap glass is like paying for a Ferrari but only being able to afford the 1.0 litre diesel option!!! It's just wrong

Wooo i just noticed, 500 posts!
Anyway...I have now decided Im going out for the evening and as far away from ebay as possible, as ....christmas presents have left me out of pocket, and I dont need to "waste" money...lol
I havent had any issues with my lens' I have, so....therefore, I need to sit and wait! :D

I would seriously remove them from your watchlist, even if you have to just pay postage on them the stamps would be worth more than the glass.

I would agree with diddydave, use what you have to its max then you will know what you need for the next purchase. Spend the money you was going to waste on those pieces of tatt and put it towards a good tripod / monopod.
