Hi, need some lens advice if possible. I'm after a lens for using at the goodwood festival of speed for taking pictures of stationary cars and am not sure what's the best for what I want, a 24mm, 28mm or a 50mm.

Space can be limited around cars so I'm leaning towards the 24 or 28mm and the camera I have is a Sony a580 so I would be looking at the used Minolta af lens range

Any help or suggestions from anyone that's used the above lenses would be appreciated as I've not death with fixed focal lenses much before...

On an aps-c camera I'd want something wider than 24mm, if space is limited. Of the lenses I own, I'd be inclined to take the minolta 17-35/2.8-4 zoom or the Sony 16-80 CZ.

Yeah I was thinking as much. The 24mm etc are all fairly cheap lenses and seem good quality at the moment, the lenses you mentioned are sadly out of my budget at the moment so I may need to do some saving

Hi

I'd be suggesting something in the range John has - Goodwood is a great place to visit, but it was packed out when I went a couple of years ago, and at times was difficult to get a shot in for the crowds.

If you are looking at a prime, then I'd opt for the wider side. You'll def need a longer lens if you want any of the track action...

Enjoy yourself
