Hi all

Picked up an 27" imac a few weeks back, been in a constant struggle to find somewhere or something to put it on.

All ready got 2 x PC's that the kids use for gaming and homework, got tired of never being able to get near them so treated myself to the imac.

Now space is very limited so a white gloss or black gloss desk, minimalist design, ideally with a draw to pop things in but has to be around a metre long.

Any other option would be greatly appreciated, the imac will not be used everyday, but needs to be ready, did look at shelf sand such but can't really find anything.

Forgot to mention, the other half is really not happy about this, hence the need to have something she likes, but is sensible for the 27 inch screen.

Just a nerdy response, but if you're serious about photo editing, the last thing you want is a glossy desk under your screen, especially with a shiny screen too.

Umm never thought of that, will it make any difference?

I can see the logic but not looking forward to telling the wife. :(

Well I'm sat on my ipad at work on my lunch and the reflections on this screen get on my nerves, there's no way I could 'work' like this.

You could try it, it'll look nice, but it all depends how serious you are about your processing station. That's a personal thing that varies all the way from 'I just use the TV' to 'Eizo monitors, daylight bulbs and a neutral grey wall behind the monitor'.

Well it's sole purpose is photo editing, it won't really get use for anything else.

So maybe you have a good point, certainly never crossed my mind,

Cheers

I wouldn't go for a white desk, gloss or matt, far to much influence for editing photographs. My iMac sits on a glass top desk which ghas a matt grey backing. no problems here.

So your wife would like a gloss desk to suit the surroundings. I would suggest you go for a black one, much better than a white finish . I'd then get some dark material, say matt art card which you put down in front of the iMac when editing. Keeps the desk surface clean as well. Also replaceable when it gets a bit tatty
