I presume you already have one as a boot drive? I was going to sell my old SSD, but the prices dropped so enormously that I've decided to keep it and stick it in my Hyperdrive Colorspace. It's not any faster than a HDD but it's a lot more reliable.

no, but does it really make much sense to use one in 5 year old MPB with SATA I and I am getting a new apple very soon, where I am forced to buy with SSD already in.
 
Got a 64gb as boot disk in my desktop and its really good. Waiting for the right price before putting a 512gb into my laptop - £250 should tempt me ;)
