However looks like a "small increase" coning in the new year, according to email received.

It does seem to be a reasonable ask at just under £36 for the year, but using Paypal means you have to give continuing authority to Digital River to take any amount they wish at any time in the future, so that'll not be happening. :(

Can you pay for 12 months and then remove paypal authority to pay?

You probably can, but why would any legitimate crowd want continuing authority, especially as Digital River sells expensive digital kit? For a failing organisation to send a begging email and then use a continuing authority just seems plain wrong to me, and not worth the hassle of the cancellation process I'm afraid. It's also in another country, so your rights may not be what we expect in the UK.

Digital River is a payment collector for many different providers.

It is indeed, which is precisely why I'm not giving them unrestricted access to my Paypal account.

I pay mine by credit card . Seen nothing re any increases forthcoming via either Flickr or smugmug

In part ...
We’ve gone to great lengths to optimize Flickr for cost savings wherever possible, but the increasing cost of operating this enormous community and continuing to invest in its future will require a small price increase early in the new year, so this is truly the very best time to help everyone upgrade to a Pro membership.

If you value Flickr finally being independent, built for photographers and by photographers, we need your help.
