This lot is courtesy of DigitalRev. I am posting them because I just think they are useful and are a good reminder of the principals of photography.

I removed one because it was a joke (as you can expect for DR videos) ;)

If you wish to see the original video it can be found here: http://youtu.be/kWgnkIq6bds

I have to admit, I hate most of them. May as well call them Cliché. We all know this stuff automatically, it's basic common sense, And these guys are quoted on it?

"The best camera is the one you have with you" ~ DurrrrrrJarvis.

"Don't pack your camera until you've left the location" - really? Because I always put mine in my bag long before, so I can eat my sandwiches in peace without having to worry about shooting.

"Everyone will take one great photo, I've done better because I've taken two" - what?? this completely contradicts other quotes about only one good one matters etc ... so number of pics DOES count? hrm

When I see people quote these, I mean, they're actually serious about it, I just cringe. These are words that photographers just ranted. Knowing they would be quoted.

No doubt someone will lash me for that, but it's simply my opinion, and it'll remain that no matter.

Well, they are just quotes that others have picked out of the things said. The person making the statement didn't make it to get in a top 24 list. If there are any cliched or silly things quoted it is the quoter at fault and not the person who said it.

/thread.

Susan Sontag
To collect photographs is to collect the world
Photographs really are experience captured and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquitisitve mood.

Clichés are often clichés because they are based on truth. They start out as enlightening statements, get repeated, and become clichés. Doesn't mean these quotes aren't worth thinking about.

I think Sontag also said, a long time ago, that everything has already been photographed. So let's all jack it in right now. :)

One of my favorites isn't on the list. 'The best zoom lens you'll ever have is your feet'. Victor Blackman.

There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept - Ansel Adams

Really didnt expect someone to have a moan at that but I shouldnt be surprised.

I suggest that you try to think a bit deeper about some of these and you might find the underlying meanings.
