Did you go for an upgraded model? They don't keep those in stock (the apple stores)
They only have the base models. So if you want any upgrades (IE larger HD's etc), you have to wait.

Makes me ashamed to be working on a 15.5" laptop screen.

ok the reply is academic now, but it's more than enough, by a long way!
The correct question would be:-

"is it enough to edit photo's while wirelessly streaming iTunes over my wifi network, burning a DVD that actually works, watching youtube and have skype and mail running, all at the same time?"

the answer is still yes! and throw some other tasks at it while you're there.

If they do announce a new model next week you can return your new computer anyway as they have a 14 day return plan !

Apple never tell anyone when they are announcing a new computer even the staff will not actually know. I bought mine in time to make use of the 14 day return when it was most likely that the new machines were being released unfortunately they were not released till months later! However I am still well happy with my Macbook pro (it has the same screen res as the 24" iMac !)
