What difference in lighting effects will these two softboxes give? I'm thinking of buying one of the two, for outdoor portraits taken in the dark. I'll be using it with a YN-465 flash mounted off camera :)

They won't give a different lighting effect as such but ,(all other factors being equal), your light source will be larger though creating softer light or more wrap around light if you will...

will it make a difference how away far each is placed? say for example if i wanted a full body portrait with the 24" would it mean i needed to set it up further away than the 30"?

And will i generally need a stronger light source for use with the bigger box?

Technically YES on both counts.....but generally 6" although huge to the average male makes little difference to light..

Go for the bigger one if the price is the same.. But if the price difference is quite large then you will really need the qualities of the larger version to justify it..

It's £50 Vs. £35 and i'll be buying a flash gun and wireless triggers too.. I think mostly i'm going to be trying my hand at head and upper body shots.

Thanks for your input mate, much appreciated :)

No worries... You will be able to shoot full body shots with either of those soft boxes just up the power of the gun and move it back until it covers the area you wan to shoot..so don't limit yourself...

Oh and don't forget to show us the results..PM me when you do so I don't miss them..

oooopppssss....tee hee hee
