Just heard about the cost to repair my lens by Camserve. I was pleasantly surprise at the quote, they even got the part cheaper than I could get it from the internet as they deal direct with Nikon.

This is the part that hold the hood onto the lens body. The lip you can see in the photo broke on one side when I dropped the camera and lens. The price quoted included part -repair - serviced and VAT.
I won't say how much unless PM'ed but it was well under what I expected to pay. As I have already claimed for camera repair I forgot to add this to the insurance claim but for the cost not worth the effort

Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 G ED lens

Had a quote from Camserve of under £240 including part- service -repair- labourI and Vat. When I took it in the guy noticed/felt a bit of rubbing when the lens moved in/out. Not enough for me to notice but then again one get used to how a lens feels. I think this is very reasonable considering the value of this lens replacement is over £1300.

What do you think bearing in mine the strip down starts from the other end that attaches to the camera

That is exactly my thoughts as well. When we went there (er indoors and myself). The place is no big show place but a smallish workshop in what looks like barn conversions but every bit of camera repair equipment one would need.
Have to say I was impressed with the workmanlike look of the place, no posh reception just a wooden counter and benches of bits and pieces behind. Loads of other small workshops all around as well.
Type of place I would have like to work in before I retired
The address says what the place was originally
