24-70 f2.8 or 70-200 f2.8

I wasn't sure what to go for after the sig 70-200, and opted for the 80-200 ( I really wanted the 70-200 ) and it's a good lens
Having now bought the 24-70 Nikon, I can confirm it is simply awesome
But a vr11 is probably on the horizon at some point, maybe
After the d700, the 24-70 is the best money I've spent, but I've used a vr11 and it really is a superb lens. Either wont disappoint

Thanks Bruce!

I think for my needs at the moment a 70-200 VR is the way to go with FF body next and then a 24-70 and then finally a 14-24!
I can then die with a smile!

Thanks Lee!

I am in the very fortunate position of being able to afford the nikon 70-200 f2.8 and as I've already said it's a lens I've always dreamed of owning!
I think that after all the fantastic replies and the options available I'm going to get the Nikon 70-200 f2.8!
WEX have it in stock for £30 more than the cheapest option on camerapricebuster.co.uk so think I will order 1 from there before my next kids shoot!

Is that the VR2? I'd get the new one the VR1 doesn't work as well on full frame, i believe it vignettes.

It will be the VR2!

I intend on getting a D800 very soon and keeping the D7000 as a backup!

Well in that case it's a no brainer. You won't be sorry, it's a thing of beauty and you will be able to sit back at a distance and pick those kids off as if your a sniper. Capturing those special moments really helps if you have the right kit.

It was the two touch AFD....lovely lens in good light with plenty of room.

I was about to ask how you found it any different from a 70-200mm but I saw your post in the other thread so makes sense now

Well after all the advice I have received from here and weighing up my options I've pulled the trigger today and purchased a shiny new 70-200 VRII from LCE this morning!
Had a quick play in the garden, grab shots of the kids and boy that af is quick and nice an sharp wide open @ 200mm!
