Hey,

Some of you may remember my 'Total Kit confusion...' thread...well...

Brought a 24-70 2.8 Sigma yesterday from CameraWorld (Chelmsford), absolutely superb shop/service.

The lens was a 'used' example, but seems fairly good to me....I asked about the conditions on the item and was informed I had a 2 week warranty....(from the shop I guess)

My questions is....as I forgot to ask them this.....if the lens still has Sigma warranty on it...a) does it transfer to me? b) is there a way of finding out how much warranty is left?

thanks alot in advance...

AJ

P.S. Seems a great lens...big though....

I got one of these.. sentti t to sigma for being soft to the right.. they sorted and sent back and I just sold it.

I would go take some example shots of say a wall, flat on.. at various fstops and at 24 and 70 then have a good look on the computer to make sure the quality is the same accross the picture.. if it is then you got a good one and you will be more than happy with it :)

Once you go big, you never go back....

;)

Cheers,
James

I honestly can't remember but I don't think it's tranferable. Have a browse on Sigma's website though - there may be info there and if not give them a call - they'll be able to clarify.

It's a corking lens - mine's just gone for repair (AF motor winding and sounding generally poorly-sick) and I'm missing it already - I only put it in the post today - LOL!

seems brilliant at the moment....although I'm about to do a softness test.....hhmmmm cross those fingers!

JPEG or RAW for this ere test?

it doesnt really matter the format.. do the test and if its soft you will see it... i dont mean soft alltogether.. i mean just particularly soft to one side... sigma lenses can suffer from this

All softness issues dismissed......:-)

Nice one!!! :) always worth testing early... pleased for ya:)

I got one arriving in the next few days and I cannot wait. Looks a chunky beast though the price of filters nearly put me off it to be honest coupled with the fact that my 400D body will be dwarfed by it. :D

The pop out style zoom surprised me.. its not internal... the lens moves out and back but doesnt turn.

I now have the canon 24-70 and this does exactly the same but the hood hides it happening... hence the large hood.. the lens is zooming in and out under it.

 It's the main reason my grip now lives on the 30D all the time - with such a big beastie on the front, it gets all unbalanced (like it's owner!) without the grip.

Well mine arrived today and a few quick shots this evening round the house and it seems sharp and reasonably quiet. Rather liking the size of it as well, loads to get hold of and reasonably easy to keep stable. Had the 50mm on for a few weeks for most of my shots and this makes the camera feel real again.

Last time I bought a second hand Sigma lens I called up Sigma & they told me that the warranty was transferrable to me - if ever I needed any repairs to just include the receipt & it'd be fine. You'd have to check if that was still the case but it definitely was with me
