24-70 2.8 or 24-105 L

I also can't take my website seriously .. I look at it and it looks like I made it at school?

Any feeback on style ..

I was thinking the opposite. In fact earlier I was looking at the code to take inspiration to make myself one.
Looks fine to me. Simple, to the point and clean. easy to navigate. Could do with the pictures bigger though, its hard to see them (it) with the watermark running through.

The only thing I "dislike" is the slightly cheesy quote about tears and hurt and joy..

1) image size = im on the case with that i agree with what you say and im TRYING to make them bigger but i have a customer support case open with clikpic as im struggling

2) cheesy quote was just more lines to fill a blank gap - perhaps thats the wrong approach

IF i sell prints of my images - where is the best place to have them printed? And wheres the best supply for canvas prints as i could offer those too ..

There is no right or wrong .. no1 told picasso his daffodils were crap because it was the wrong colour yellow

Haha! Quality! Nice one Danny. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Someone probably told him they were crap, but maybe he didn't listen!

I guess it depends on thre quality you want. Ive got a canvas from Snapmad for £19.99 and Im chuffed with it, but some say its not "client" quality.

I think there are lots of threads in the printing/processing forum about good companies to use.

didnt know any of that so thats just some very valuable advice thank you very much ..

how much would you suggest i sold images for?

It really does depend on the use to which they are being put. For the example I gave earlier, it would probably have been worth thousands - IF the client really liked it and REALLY wanted to use it for all those purposes.

But its tough trying to negiotiate sales, there's no doubt about it.

have a quick look again and see what you think of my gallery wording ..

im now ****ing about with prices ..

Umm.. I hate to say it but I'd expect a gallery to have more than one picture and I'm not sure I'd want to pay anything for a photo taken with a lens that the 'tog doesn't think is spot on in terms of quality ;)

I have to say though, the original point that the lens is cr@p is lost in the fact that the pic has been shrunk so much you have no idea how sharp or not the original is...

On the other hand, having a "popular" thread pointing to your website can't be too bad for your google rankings.

Did you try try the ruler test on your 24-105 that I suggested and you said was spot on? If so, is your lens still not quite right?

Got to love the 24-105 Danny....swap it if there is something wrong with it....you won't regret it!

with respect you dont know how the 7D came into my hands so ...

With reciprocating respect....I meant if you keep a piece of kit long enough to learn how to use it, the results may be closer to your intention in the outset!

Okay .. Wnt to Jessops today to see how the 24-105 performed .. 2 on the trot were good but not excellent. Not enough to warrant the £860 price tag!

He asked if I wanted to try other lenses so tried the 24-70 .. TACK!

As over the past 2 weeks Jessops have majorly ****ed me off an messed me about I picked up the lens fr £900!!

That's less than an import and it's brand spanking uk version.

It cost £40 more than the one I had but image quality actually delivers on my 7D .. Both me and the bloke agreed

Slate as much as you like but I didn't spend £900 to get a **** photo.

Glad you like what you've now got...it is a superb lens.

Playing with it @ home .. Wow! It has good macro capability!! Focussing so close to a subject! I can get a photo of my cats face with the lens hood almost on his nose!

I'm actually amazed at the quality!

I thought the minimum focusing distance on the 24-105 was 43cm (or near as dammit half a meter)

24-105mm max aperture is f/4 but has IS
24-70mm max aperture is f2.8 but has no IS

I would probably get the 105mm since it is smaller/lighter

Dude, how late are you to the party? have you actually read any of the thread or just trying to get to the magic 100?
