Evening all..

Whilst out and about today, I changed lenses and noticed a big old thumb print on the 20D's mirror.

How do I clean this off without resorting to a bit of T-shirt (!)

And will this have affected image quality? To be honest I haven't seen any deteriation, but it may have been there since I bought it a month ago.

Cheers,

Nick

The mirror is only used to reflect the image into the eye piece. Won't affect the sensor image at all.

As to cleaning it... I'll leave someone else to suggest that.

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad part one is cleared up!

Now to find out how I clean it...

Leave it, It`s delicate, i`v got one on my 5D.:bang:

A pecpad over a glue stick wth a little bit of eclipse fluid will do the job, but be warned the mirror scratches very very easily, search on here for the copperhill method and that is pretty much the same system I use to clean a mirror
tbh I prefer cleaning sensors to mirrors, it's easier imo.

Whilst it will obviously never show on an image, it could very well affect image quality by impacting the autofocus performance. Cleaning should be done with extreme care.

I'm thinking this is a job for the pro's!

Really? what a pain! I'll notice every time I change lenses now LOL

Does your head in when you notice something like that.

Thumbs in mirror compartments - dear, dear!

Mirror compartments and ears have the same thing in common.
Don't ever try to put anything in smaller that your elbow.
