2024 M4 Mac Mini vs iMac

Yes, it's a power on button.

Yes, it is a duck.

Yes, the beak is the button.

It's a very clever design, very snug fit, physical divider between rear exhaust and cold air intake.

Hi Raymond, liking your ducky-dock. The back power button of my studio annoys the hell out of me. Where can I get hold of one?

Watching this with interest.

I don't know if they make the duck for the Studio. But for the Mini, this is where I got it from. From this seller.

There seems to be other sellers now selling it, I guess the 3D file has gone public. When I got it, there was only this shop selling it. I don't know how good the 3D print for other people's are though but this one is good, there is zero horizontal movements once seated.

This is a serious question, not trolling MAC vs PC.
Is there a screen out there that bests the 27" 5k as is standard on the last of the iMAC series?

The BEST is the one made by Apple, the £4,000 ish one XDR display....

Then everything else is like your preference. like the Apple Studio display plays well with the Mac, people say it gives the best TEXT pixel to pixel DPI clarity. I am using a Huewei 28" Mateview that is 4k+ res and not even using it at max res (it is too small) and it looks fine. I guess it depends on personal preference but I do not, DO NOT at all notice any blur on text, zero. Not one bit. There is also the Acer 5k one for like £700 or so.

My 2nd screen is a 16" 3k OLED monitor. Due to the small size, it has the same DPI has Apple's 5k display, like 221 DPI. and compared to the Huewei, clarity is the same to me.

I think the whole 5k thing is over blown personally, 4k monitor is fine, I bet 99% of users don't use an Apple display with their Mac mini/Studio.

I have been looking for the STL and not found it - will have a play in Fusion when time permits but doubt I'll get anywhere close.

I thought that loosing my iMac screen was going to be the end of the world - and within minutes of buying this Benq never even notice. Actually other than it looks different the screen to my aging eyes is as good as the iMac and I am pretty certain that any modern decent monitor would be fine.

Is that a Brenan under your screen?

Thanks, Raymond. Lots of Mini bases but none for Studios :crying:

FWIW, I spent around £600 for a 5k 27" and I was disappointed. On paper, all looked good but the contrast was poor and unevenly lit. Yes, the Apple tax is a hard pill to swallow but worth it in the long run. The output, workmanship and longevity account for something in my book. I now run the XDR but apart from size and dynamic range, it's not worth the extra ££ if you're not using it for business or doing critical work.

Same corner, left side?

Yes. Mine is M1 so it doesn't look like they've changed the chassis at all.
