2015 Photo52 Challenge : WEEK 52 we finally made it and its "Christmas" into the bargain

Everything is always hectic. I was promised boredom when I quit the military, it's been over a year and I'm still waiting! I am glad you're managing to locate some free time for this project.

Back to civilian life now? Theres always something to keep you busy. Need to get some time to comment on peoples lovely photos!

Yep, I quit, had enough! Have fun commenting, I am just starting commenting.

I haven't had the best couple of weeks with the loss of my job and my washing machine breaking, but I have at last got my fragile image posted. I am now all excited about week 3 theme, I have a few ideas I mind all depends on the weather.

Sorry to hear about your job Mandy I hope you get something sorted soon.

Looking forward to these theme must try and think of something different......

And . . . here's week 3's theme !!!
Hate it hate it hate it!
There is no scenery around here :(
I may just have to cheat and slide in a "here's one I made earlier" type thing.
I can't see me sliding in a gob shot either :(
Although a dentist may find it scenic?
:D

Did I say that I don't like this weeks theme?
:p

If its a re-edit, it becomes a new picture ;)

Sorry to hear about your job, good luck in the search for a new one fingers crossed for you.

Awwweee sorry to hear about your job Mandy, hope you get sorted soon :(

Spreadsheet up to date, some super shots again for this week

Well, for me it's going to be one of them weeks... I have finally sorted my photo's from the TP Nutters meet on Saturday, and posted them up, now I'm off to Derby on business for tomorrow & Wednesday, hopefully I get another bout of comments started on while in the hotel :)

Then there is this weeks theme from me... <cue snapshot of a random roadside field on my way back to Norfolk on Wednesday Night> :bang:

Kit ready for tomorrow morning at 5.30am:

Sadly that's only what I'm carrying... given the cold I'll be wearing another 4kg of gear although helped by only needing B1 boots (not icy/technical enough for B2s yet...)

I reckon the 2.7kg camera is probably the most important part of the kit bag though ;)

I must remember to pack some lunch as well. And get my poles from the garage. I suspect I'm going to get to the hills without one of those!
Nope! most important parts are the Map and Compass;)

So sorry to hear that Mandy. Good luck with finding something and I hope you do quickly. Sod the washing machine going at the same time... life's a b****r sometimes :(

Thanks could be a while, not much work in my area.
As per your thread, I'm really sorry to hear that Mandy,
fingers crossed that something turns up before too long

As for this weeks theme, did I mention I didn't like it?
Its about as scenic & interesting around here as Norfolk is on a bad day :(

I really is beginning to look like a "here's one I made earlier" week :(

Booked Thursday off work and I'm driving to Malham to see if I can get my Scenic and a few for my Minimal thread.

I drive at 999cc Lupo, weather is forecast as -1, so if anyone drives a 4X4 please PM me your phone number :)

Cheers all.

You'll be fine...nice skinny tyres will get you through most stuff unless you're axle deep in snow ,if it's ice then not a lot you can do....can highly recommend Tyre socks though ,reasoonably cheap & will give you grip on the slippy stuff ,Halfords stock them :-)

Just to say I know I'm being woefully rubbish at commenting this week and slack with the old photo (not liking scenic![emoji16]). I'm at the end of selling up my business and solicitors and accountants just won't accept that I have more important things to do like find something vaguely scenic to shoot and look at all the amazing pics everyone else is taking!! Again, apologies for being rubbish over the next 2 weeks, but I'll try and sneak some comments in during the "can't sleep" hours that follow[emoji12]

Stuck on a hill above malham. Parked up and decided to walk to the tree. Can't see much though :)

So I'm feeling a bit slack because so many of you have been good enough to comment on my thread yet I haven't commented on many myself. I'll have a major c&c session after work.

I know what you mean.
Not feeling the confidence to give constructive criticism to others mainly due to my lack of knowledge.

Another apology from me re: commenting on others' photos. Hectic week workwise (again) and just haven't had a moment. Currently on a very sketchy internet connection on a train and have only just managed to thank everyone who's commented on my thread. Took quite a few attempts given the connection drops!

When I'm back in the office I'll catch up properly with everyone else's photos!

Looking forward to my Introduction to B&W photography (film) course this weekend. Wouldn't it just be perfect if the theme tomorrow evening was "mono" ;) (ok, I know we had that last year!)

@fabphoto - absolutely no need to feel that way! (although I can understand if you do)... critiquing other peoples' photos does three things:

1. it gives them a view through your eyes as to what you like or don't like. The great thing about this is you're never wrong: because it's your take on it. You don't have to comment on whether you think the lighting was the right setup, or any other technical aspects, you can just say what you like and perhaps don't like so much about it... give it a go!

2. it gives you a chance to hone your own "photographic eye" by stating something and seeing if others agree/disagree. Even if you're on your own, it doesn't make your view wrong... quite often you see an image dividing opinion on something, whether it is "you should have cropped cropped closer in" or "I'd have preferred a wider angle / zoomed out shot" etc.

3. it also cements in your own mind what to think about when you're about to take a photo. Trying to comment constructively on others' photos means you are likely to look at the edges of the frame, the composition/arrangement, the lighting/exposure, what's in focus vs out of focus... and building up your own sense of what you think works and you want to concentrate on, yourself, will help you when you're next about to press the shutter release!

Don't worry... we've all been first-time-commenters at some point :)

Way behind with commenting. just quickly logged into to say hello and well done to all who are keeping on top at the moment. Another busy week at work. SCENIC still to take and guess what it's Friday tomorrow. Busy weekend for me then. hopefully catch up on comments then as well.

Missed loads of comments on Scenic entries. Sorry folks.
I am shattered after a day photographing at Malham.
I'm in bed before 8:30 for the first time since I was 7 :)
Oh, I haven't posted my Scenic, but I think I've got it.

.......it's Friday tomorrow

And I'm on an Alcohol Awareness course through work. So, no drinking for me on Saturday night

Night all zzzzzzzzzzz

Great post on commenting on others photos @pjm1. I too find it tricky to press the "Post Reply" button sometimes.

Apologies to all for not commenting much if at all this week. Alas, there's little chance of a scenic entry from me unfortunately too. Mum in law had a fall and broke her arm which has left us a bit pre-occupied to say the least :(
Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon and I'll catch up.
