2014 Photo52 Challenge : Week 52 : Support

The general consensus was be honest, say what you do like about an image, say what you don't like but in both cases, saying why is a great help. What would you do to improve it etc.
All said with a liberal sprinkling of good manners and no one need take offence.

This ^^^^^^ (y)

Not on every image that gets posted, sometimes there's not always a lot to add or its already been said, but I certainly try to say what I see and how I may have done it differently, but that's just my opinion and I think it helps my own improvement :)

Saying that........I'm behind this week

Whew....can you all stop posting pic's for a couple of hours please....just caught up & want to bask in that glory for a short while :D

As for crit.........I sometimes feel I'm being mega picky ( & indeed , sometimes I am !) , I'm not always the most subtle person but do try to say what & why & hope the person involved takes it as intended...to help .it's all down to your opinion , no-one needs to take offence , certainly give an answer back to the person leaving crit as to why you did it that way but don't block out the others opinions as there may just be something of merit in what's been said...try the idea's suggested if possible & see what you think .

I'm rambling again....of to turn some sows ears in to silk purses...... :D

I worry that I should use the maxim 'if I've nothing good to say I should say nothing at all', but then being here would be pointless.

As Iain says the debate over critique came up last year, and I think the year before as well!

To say nothing but nice things all the time means people won't learn. To be overly critical will put people off and they won't come back. Trying to find the middle ground is difficult!

In air traffic we use a technique called the bath tub effect. Start nice, then say what you don't like/ needs correcting then finish nice!
But if you genuinely can't find anything nice to say, then it's probably best saying nothing at all!

How do you do that?

Click on the link and it opens another tab - I use Chrome

Tabbed browsing I would imagine

Is that what they call it :D

Anyway, I've totally cocked it as I now have 39 TP pages on the go and am afraid to look as there are now this weeks selections up there too and I've not taken, let alone posted mine yet

Do you open every photo all at once? I just click on them one at a time!

Yep, I open them, then get involved in something else and they just stay open until I've looked at them - I'm easily distracted though :D

Like right now I'm installing a new hard drive can you tell :D

As time goes on you'll find it easier to give crit as you'll start to see how people take it.

Most of us who're into our second, third or even more th year can take a little brutal criticism as long as it can be backed up, if you think it's rubbish at least say why :) but if you think it's great try and say why as well.

 I am the worst at this! If I go on the pc for 'five' minutes I get lost on one photo, which leads me to another and then I forget about the first one I started with!

I've not been around for a couple of weeks but will try my best to catch up on everyones threads this week! :) (wish me luck!!)
Good Luck Sarah... not an easy task that's for sure, I have only been away for 4 days, done a good few comments and still have over 30+ tabs open to comment on tomorrow :D

Time for Bed ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have to admit I find it impossible to comment on everything because I just don't have the time every day to keep on top of it. In the main, by the time I do come round to looking, everyone else has already chipped in with useful critique so I'll only add if I have a different point of view. If there is something that really stands out I'll like the posts too.

Also I am not into the reciprocal commenting for the sake of it either. However, I do look at absolutely everything so please don't anyone be offended if I don't seem to say much! :)

This sums up my feelings on the comments debate totally. I am struggling to get one shot per week entered let alone comment and answer on threads.

I do read all my crit from you all and as a newbee take it all on board and am learning from it thank you.(y)
I do also look at everyone elses work and if i really like it i will say so but I personally dont feel qualifiyed enough to offer a crit on technical aspects that others are giving maybe that will come with time and confidence.

Had a bit of an accident at work today, the top platform support bar of the steps I was using sheared and tipped me off leaving me with a partiallly shattered ball joint on my upper arm. Even worse its my left arm and I'm left handed so I may struggle over the next few weeks.
I'll maybe see how I get on with the camera tomorrow but it could be a long winded affair changing any settings.
I'll try to keep up on commenting but my typing is bad enough normally so if i do comment it'll be short and sweet.

Ouch and double ouch! Hope you don't need surgery on any joints.

Dropping back is no problem, I've struggled these last two weeks, just catch up when you're ready :)

Ouch indeed, hope you heel well and soon.

Sorry all for still not getting round and commenting, things have not gone my way and I have no idea what to do at the moment, I will not be giving up though, illness is not helping me either and is getting very annoying.

Anyway sorry for moaning out loud, I will not be giving up so hopefully I will get posting pics over the coming weeks.

Sorry to hear of your accident at work  Wish you a speedy recovery Michael.

Ouchie hope you recover soon and manage to stay caught up

Thank you for your messages of concern and thank you Mandy for the

Thankfully I'm still able to operate my camera albeit with great care. Changing the setting proved the most challenging part but it has made me slow down so its not such a bad thing.
Anyhoo I've got this weeks theme done so for the first time I'm up to date

Now to catch up on the commenting

Is it Friday yet ???

I've got in a real pickle commenting on threads - so many tabs open that my PC has nearly ground to a halt  Have closed them all and will start again with all new submissions - so if I've missed you out this time, I'll catch up later - sorry :(

I seem to have slipped behind a bit now after a couple of busy weeks a home and work. I will try to catchup. Is it really Friday already and almost March !

Oh @Dark Knight this is a bit w***y when you click on the links now they open in the same tab :crying:

Doing the same on mine, started yesterday.
I'm running safari not sure why it's suddenly changed but have got 'open links in new tab' checked so its not that. I'm having to right click the link and select open in new tab each time. And I agree it's really &%£$@ :arghh:

OMG... Did you really just type that :D

Yes :D Shhhh don't tell'em ;)

You can use the real word - probably because it's not a real word

Made my day....

:)

You're welcome :D
