2014 Photo52 Challenge : Week 52 : Support

I do believe it's Friday.

Been a long week so I'll be treating myselft to few quaffs of Jack tonight. I appologise in advance for any threads I start and photographs I post :wacky:

We are fast approaching the 50% completed mark so give yourselft a pat on the back if you are still here....and a chocholate bar as well. I'll pay you all back when we meet :)

Cheers all and I'll catch up with comments tonight.

Got the weekend off so hope to have plenty of time to do this weeks theme and post so of the previous weeks too.

Fingers crossed I'll be all caught by the time were at the half way mark

I don't really know why I am in here looking to see if the new theme has been posted, I haven't done the current one yet. I have absolutely no ideas for dream/dreamy, inspiration has deserted me this week :help::D

I couldnt even complete last weeks theme "Dream/Dreamy"... its really got me stumped... have a week off so hopefully I'll be able to come up with something...

I know that feeling! Still, you can always submit a wildcard like I did.

Lots of moaning going on here ;)

When in doubt PABD (y) I know it's not ideal but some themes just don't work for some of us. I was stumped until I happened across one of my recent photographs.

If needed, just miss the week and move on.

In sum, you lot ain't going anywhere :bat:

Chests.

Some of them are definitely tougher than others, but if you're stuck just move on to the next week and come back to it or throw a wildcard in (y)
Come on . . . almost halfway there now.

I'm off to get the bag and see what this week brings up. Fingers crossed that it's going to be a good one.

eeeek - another repeat theme!! (From last year).

Definately better the devil you know though, vertical is actually quite a nice one! :)

Did we have vertical last year?
I thought I'd killed all the dupes in the bag . . . but I guess I must have missed that one  :$
(There are quite a lot of cards still in there to be fair)

For all of you experienced 52ers it's almost a reshoot theme. Would be interesting to see last year's vs this year's.
And just be thankful it wasn't 'grunge' - I seem to remember us having that 3 years in a row (and that was before I had hold of the bag!)

We did indeed, and time, step, mono, shape, & wild so far :D

But as I said, better the devil you know, and at least these have all been friendly themes... sure there are plenty worse in there!

Oh God . . . I give up
I really did go through the whole bag around week 12/13 and I thought I'd stripped everything out that had come up in other years.

What I might do this weekend is post up a list of all the themes that are still in there and get some suggestions for any new additions. It's really not giving anything away, because there are enough there to last another year.

The ratio of returning to first timers is probably about 50/50 (or maybe 40/60), so any repeats will (obviously) only affect those who've been in before, and should be able to manage... Or at least give them something to moan about :naughty:

I don't mind either way. :)

I'd vote for not seeing the list as I like the surprise and challenge of thinking up something each week.

I wasn't in last year so vertical is a new one for me. (y) Keep up the great work BTW

Never going to please everyone.

It's my fourth year so repeats are expected ...but it feel they can be avoided. After all, and I quote, "The Second Edition of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words in current use..."

So it can't be that hard to avoid any repeats.

I vote for @SarahLee posting up all the themes since TP52 started, asking for suggestions that have not been used before and use them. Job done.

:exit:

I was just about to post my vertical theme but my model.....as in me...is no longer vertical :)

Cheers.

Ditto. It has felt a bit of a mammoth effort over the last few weeks as I haven't been able to do it as much as I would have liked. Still I'm there now - 1063 critiques over the last 24 weeks. Only another few more to go until December :D

Afternoon, all. Well finally caught up with comments. If I've missed you do let me know (y)

Cheers.
Lucky You... I'd be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky :D

I'm going to have a photo editing day tomorrow (and grass cutting) so hope to post up my catch up shots :)

Then it will be on to Commenting again...

But for now, just done my this weeks shot, hope it works as I hoped <fingers crossed>

Great Theme - Good luck all

....
b****r !!!

It has worked as I wanted to, but a massive error in the set up, will have to set it up again tomorrow and re-shoot :bang:

This is completely off topic, but I lent my camera to Mrs pjm1 recently and thought I'd helpfully put it into "green mode" (full auto). After dealing with the "which button zooms in and out" question, I presumed we were sorted. About 50 pictures later, we met back up and I asked to see some shots. They were all completely blank.

Cue: "You didn't tell me I had to take the lens cap off..."

(she was having an off day!)

I've been there...but not fir 50 photographs :) I bet they were belters as well...

Cheers and teach her properly next time :exit:

Id rather not see the list either tbh, maybe post it in a new thread with spoiler alert and those that would like to see it can whilst those who don't can avoid it

Maybe a PM to Sarah with suggestions that she can add to the bag, would be a better alternative? If one of them is chosen, at least only the person who sent the PM would know where it came from.

You're right Andy - it's the teacher's fault not the pupil's! (I know I'd make a rubbish teacher, btw...)

She does take some nice photos as well, so I'm keen to get her comfortable using my camera. We'll get there!

Right - end of my rude diversion and back on topic. I'm pleased with my minor crowbar effort this week... not because it's a particularly brilliant photo but because I've been wanting to take a photo of that subject (in general) for ages! Yes: cliched, but for good reason.

Give me a chance (or a LARGE vodka)... I'm whizzing around here like some sort of loon trying to catch up

Comment catch-up coming up... oh and my backlog of themes... oh and sorting my Lightroom catalogue/previews/back-ups... and I'm only up to episode four of Top Gear... I don't think I'm very good at multi-tasking

But surely it's about the quality of comments you receive, not the quantity... ;)

Valid point, but I'd like both :)

In actual fact if I do if again next year I'm toying with the idea of commenting on a monthly basis and giving detailed crit on one photograph that I feel needs most work. The first few months are a nightmare keeping up with comments.

Just an Idea at the moment.

Cheers.

As a beginner, I find I'm getting as much out of critiquing others' photos as I am at receiving crit on mine. I know that's not going to be the same for the rest of you, and I mustn't forget, I'm only a few weeks in so still excited and "new" with it all... ;)

I know exactly what you mean Paul, I came to try to learn and get as much out of critiquing images also. I've found that just reading what others say about an image is also a great way to learn.
It wasn't a case of I was 'keen' to crit, but certainly during the shorter days of winter I enjoyed, shall I say, 'offering my opinion' a lot more when I had loads of time on mi hands. At this time of year it all seems a little rushed for me.........but, I'm afraid, winter will come round all too soon

Caught up again and I have to say, I do like to provide crit and I struggled. Some of the themes didn't appeal to me, but I tried to focus on technique and relationship to the theme.

Good show all

Cheers.

Well I have had another batch of catching up, apologies to anybody I have not got around to yet, To help me catch up I have been concentrating on replying to comments on my thread and returning the favour, I hope to be caught up on themes soon, so will revert to nightly comments on new photo's (god PLEASE make it happen !!!!)

Seen some cracking images

I am going to post another image of my backlog then best get to work !!!
