2013 Photo52 Challenge : WEEK 52 Water

Hi, all, and well done for still being here ;)

I've notice a few folk don't put a link to their TP52 thread in the photo only thread. With the large numbers taking place time is a premium so you might get more fists if a link is assed.

Cheers all and I'm trying to get my daughter involved in another Gravity...no luck so far, just a face full of snow!!

I started clicking the profile page for those who didn't include the link and looking for th threads they started, but as time goes on this will be a chore I probably will stop doing!

Yeah, I do that but...eeek, every second saved is more time for comments.

Cheers.

:lol:..thanks for the laugh Andy

& thanks to you all for offering hints on how to PP my gravity shot...given it a go & quite happy with the result & to have learnt something new

had a quick scoot round some threads tonight but must get tea & go to bed...popped I am ...back for more tomorrow evening..

Hi having problems with my computer so may be late with my 'gravity' submission so please don't mark me as AWOL Dark knight :-)

Fingers crossed I can get my camera out tonight - been a manic week at work, and I haven't had the time.... I will do it, but I may end up doing weeks 3 and 4 together....

:-)

Third week on the trot when I've ran out of time and struggled. Dark on the way to work dark on the way home and no lights or studio - does it get any easier? :)

No.....you just get numb, so don't notice the pain ;)

Yes, in about June when it doesn't get dark until about 10pm :bonk:

I have no time really, out for work at 6am not home until 5pm, tackle kids down by 8 then collapse in exhausted heap before getting everything ready for the next day! I pop in here occasionally but commenting is a nightmare for me just now :(

Still not going to quit though, it's a bit addictive this 52 Lark!

I must admit, it's the commenting that's suffering for me; I am incredibly impressed at those of you who find so much time to go through so many people's work and give encouragement and feedback. You're the ones who make this a community, so thanks.

I couldn't agree more and second that - thank you

41 Gravity photographs been posted, on spreadsheet, and a dozen AWOL.

Hopefully more Gravity photographs will arrive and, folk, take note:

1. If you take a photograph and don't post it because you're worried it's not very good, just post it.....your here to learn.
2. If you drop behind a week or two, don't drop out, put a 'placeholder' and come back to it.
3. The last option, I guess, is post anything related to the theme.

If you drop out, you'll regret this wonderful learning opportunity....oh, and you'll miss both the mid project meet and the end of project meet

I'd you have any questions about photography just ask, I guarantee one of us will know the answer.

Cheers.

Again, agreed - as this year I'm looking to improve my post production skills I have really learnt loads already and that is solely due this project which has given me focus and a challenge, my interpretations of the word may be tenuous at best given that I want to shoe horn it into something post production heavy but still don't give up.

Here, here

I've really struggled with gravity, just no real ideas. I don't profess to be the most creative - that's part of my journey here really.

So, I kinda struggled this week, shot a couple of things I wasn't overly happy with, and posted the best here. I was pleasantly surprised with the feedback.

The motto I guess is stick with it… regardless of how poor you think your efforts are. It is a journey, a learning journey and some weeks will be good, some bad but at the end of the game hopefully we'll all emerge as better photographers. :)

Well said

Wild....

this one's going to be difficult. don't have time for the zoo. I can only hope there's moody stormy weather this week.

Yep... that sounds about right :D

Wild should be ok, I'm hoping to catch up this weekend :suspect:

Would have preferred 'Dark' or 'Gloomy' or even 'Grey' :D

Can't believe that we're on to week 4 already

Keep going everyone.
I know the commenting is difficult to keep up with, but like I said before - if anyone feels that their post has got lost among the masses, shout up to make sure that you get some visits.

And to anyone who's missed a couple of weeks or not got off to the start that they'd planned, it's never too late to jump back in and carry on.

It is the C & C that is the most difficult, I prefer to critique than comment but there just is not the time to spend on each picture and have time to live as well - I won't be winning any critique comps with what I am doing at the moment I don't think. Talking of which are TP going to do any more of those or was it a (not well attended) one off?

Took the opportunity to get mine done early this week :D so a nice pressure free week ahead

It's a tough balancing act.
I've been working on the premise that I'd rather give some good critique on a handful of 52 shots each week rather than try to comment on all of them (although working 12 hour days for the last fortnight has put an end to even doing that the last couple of weeks)
On the other hand, with a long term project like this, I think comments start to become equally important a month or so in just to keep the encouragement and support going.

I don't know about any more critique comps. Nothing planned at the moment.
I think we're all of the opinion that we'd like to do more of that sort thing, but the uptake last time was so poor :(
If we do run any more, we'd need to think of ways of promoting it better and getting more members involved first.

When I have a spare 5 mins I'm popping along to try and critique or even just a bit of encouragement, if there have been a lot of replies or I can't add anything I move on. I don't have the time to go through everyones (who does :) ) but I do look at all the contributions

Hhhmmmmm Wild, think I will need to get my thinking cap on for this.

I try to comment on as many threads as possible but I struggle, I think the picture(no comments thread) is really helpful to see as many pictures as possible.

Alas I look at the picture thread and comment in my head then feel guilty for not visiting each thread and actually writing something! I'm only on here a few minutes at a time whilst at work!

Yup, same here. I just try and comment on as many as possible. Each time I log on I look and comment on a couple.

It tends to be comment, rather than critique mind you...

.

Yes, I think that will be important. I had just decide to give up posting pictures on TP due to lack of response, in these challenges there is such a different (and brilliant) atmosphere and I only wish I had started earlier

I concur with this. I did not post a lot before on TP but those that I did post had lots of views but virtually nil response.

However, I did the 2012 challenge and had lots of friendly and supportive comments. So it is worthwhile to persevere and catch up if necessary. If I remeber right last year I was 4 weeks behind at one time and yet when i posted, comments came

I thin kthere's a place for both commenters (great for encouragement), and for critique-ers (to point out where things could be improved).

I think I'm tending to the latter myself - but I do always try to offer at least as many positive points as I do negative ones.

I'm sure it'll get easier to get round "everyone" as the weeks go by and there are the (inevitable) "fallers".

But I think everyone's doing great so far. And there seems to be a good mix of old hands, and those just starting out.

I (and I think all of the admin/mods) would really, really love to see that sort of community spirit, support and critique on the wider forums.
Any bright ideas on how to encourage it and we're all ears :)

Come up with the answer to that and you could tackle the meaning of life next followed by the big one....understanding women :coat:

I have fallen behind, I still need to do gravity and of course wild and I have just managed to get my 365 pics done each day as well. This last week has been quite a long one. Hopefully things will get back to normal from now. I will most probably comment on this weeks pictures if that's ok with everyone.

Now, I need to think of some ideas
