The bag of themes arrived here safely this week - Thank you Simon
So here we have the theme for Week 2.

Re : Saturday evening posting

A few people have requested that the themes get drawn earlier than Sunday evening, so from week 2 onwards I'll draw and post on a Saturday.
This gives you the following options :

1) If the Sunday night draw worked best for you: stop reading, DO NOT scroll down and ignore until tomorrow night . . . then carry on as normal.

2) Continue to run your Photo52 week from Monday to Sunday, but treat the Saturday night draw as a "sneak preview" and an extra day of thinking time to ponder and plan your shot for the week ahead.

3) Prove that you're a hardened 52er, turn your shot around in a day and have it posted up on the forum by Sunday night :D

4) Any combination of the above that suits you - remember that it's your personal challenge, your rules.
From experience, there may be occasional weeks when there are bank holidays or you have specific plans and an earlier draw may be a better fit for you.

NB: In previous years most 52ers have used the full week to get their shot completed and most have also decided not to look at other threads until they've got their own photograph in.
This means that Sunday / Monday evenings tend to be the busiest times for people providing C&C on the previous week's theme.
So if you do post your shot early in the week, don't be disheartened if you have to wait a while for comments.

If you've read the above, scroll down for this week's theme :

The second theme for 2011 is . . .

NEW

Quite appropriate for this time of year and lots of opportunities for different interpretations.
I haven't had chance to visit any 52 threads during the last week, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you've come up with so far - hopefully I'll be able to pop into a few over the next few days

This seems very similar to the POTY theme which is new beginnings I shall a think on it this evening see what I can come up with.

Thank you for posting it early.

I like having the extra day to think about it.
Must admit this one's got me stumped (for the moment).
Thanks again for taking charge Sarah.

So do we make a whole new thread for our individual pictures or is there a way to edit the title. How does it work?

Lissa, in your own thread if you edit your original post, in advance mode - not quick edit, then yes you should be able to.

I am keeping one thread with all my weeks in there and just editing the original post with links to the appropriate weeks!

HTH, Kris

Thanks sarah...need a bit of time and thought for this one

Yes Sarah THANKS  :bang: :bonk: :help:
Albi.

Thanks Sarah for the early release of the next theme, I had a quick peek at it last night so I could start the old cogs turning

This one is going to take some thought, have a few ideas, so will have to see which I can do as I am back at work from tomorrow :'( after having had nearly 3 weeks annual leave.

BTW everyone, I am putting together a spreadsheet of all taking part which will be available shortly. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Sarah for taking the reins on choosing and posting the themes.

Good luck every

Cheers

Dawn :)

"NEW" now that's something I can get my teeth into, it took me until Saturday of week one to get "ACCOMMODATION" sorted. Thanks Sarah I'll get on to this weeks theme today :-)

Mark.

Immediate thought was.... I have just put new strings on my Mandolin, but I am struggling to get an interesting and mostly in focus shot? Any tips

Hi Paul are you taking about your birdhouse shot if so I notice the exif is F5, so its not OOF its DOF, try F8

No I was on about shot for the "New" theme starting today.
I am trying to get a shot of new strings on my mandolin, but finding it difficult to get a good position on it and get as much as possible in focus.

Shame on me I know, but the birdhouse was auto.

Thanks Sarah.

Last week had loads of variations..... cant wait to see what this week brings.

Sounds like a great excuse to buy some 'NEW' gear and take pics of it :D

Not sure the wife would agree with this.
But yes, it would be great to think I could take a picture of a nice new D90 that I'm waiting to buy - maybe next month :'(

I have several ideas, but I'm away from home most of the week so I'm not sure how I'll fit this in

Good luck everyone.

Ii love this game its that good i still haven't managed to do last weeks posted yet i have been thinking too hard i think (lol) :cuckoo:

This was one of the words I portrayed in my 365. And I still like the idea I did back then, and might do the same idea again =) xx

;) On it's way.
All new threads in here now need to go for moderator approval.
I've posted it, just waiting for somebody in the staffroom to let it in.

Wooohooo Thanks Sarah,

Come on Mods, the suspense is killing me :D

Cheers

I'm with you all on this one! It is driving me mad .... I have been waiting all week for this.

Aren't we a sad bunch, nothing better to do on a Saturday night than to wait to hear what the verdict is on the next theme. Now that is what I call dedication!

I must say I am impressed by the level of participation. Didn't realise how many were taking part until I put the list together, and there are still a few who have joined since then.

Looks like we may have a bumper year if all keep up.

Come on guys and gals, let's stick together, motivate each other and learn.

BTW I have noticed that some have found week 2 quite difficult. May I suggest that we try to help each other with ideas, that is once we have achieved our own submission. Perhaps that would ease the stress and anxiety that some are feeling.

Afterall part of the learning is also finding the inspiration and ideas. So if we can help each other here too I think that could help those who find it a bit difficult to come up with ideas.

What do you think?

Cheers

Dawn :)

good idea Dawn I am with you on that one ;) my biggest problem is coming up with the ideas ..but then I suppose it depends on the theme :) thats if we ever get one :D

yours impatiently

Thanks James, I think it could work. But obviously people really have to try their best and not use this option as a cop-out to not wanting to THINK, but more a way of encouraging the thought process.

It doesn't have to necessarily take the form of direct ideas, perhaps more a coaxing of the mind to think of ideas. May I propose we give it a trial run and see how it goes. i think over the next 50 weeks we will all at some stage hit a blank, especially considering the normal day-to-day pressures we all have to deal with.

Right, after having said all that, I hope now that the theme has been published.

Cheers

Dawn :)

I am now on my second glass off wine  I may have to think horizontally soon if they dont come up with this theme soon :D but yes I agree a nudge in the right direction can do know harm ;) well especially for me

 I'm on my third, so may be thinking more diagonally soon :D

I'm all for helping each other...one idea may be for members to let other members know their thought process when arriving at their chosen idea??

Great work by the way, Dawn, your doing a great job.

Week 3 should be up soon....I've sent the 'Boys' around to have a word with the Mods....

Might give it a miss tonight as I'm on the second half of my Jack Daniels, then again, it could help my creativity...;)

Cheers.

Hiya Andy,

I like your idea too, that way it may help others get the cogs turning. Like the old saying, one good idea leads to another. I think we may be on a roll here :) By the end of the year, none should have he excuse that they can't think of anything creative or inspiring

BTW you are welcome regards the spreadsheet! I hope you find it helpful. It is certainly helping me keep track of who I have responded to and those I still have to visit. I have my work cut out for me tonight as I have a few to visit still.

Don't leave us yet, you still have to have a JD for me :p - Talk about encouragement and bad influence in the same sentance

Cheers

Dawn :)
