2010 Photo 52 - Week 03

I've been sitting down with pen and paper for a while now and I think I might just have an idea ... just need to go shopping :)

Simon.... it would be really nice if you could pin the current week at the top with your main thread and unpin it when you have the next one just to make it easier to find.... theres a lot of traffic on this section.

Just a thought

Terran

EDIT - seen your reply further up.... may be you could get sticky powers ?

The themes seem to get worse every week :gag: after what felt like ages of thinking i decided to go with the the obvious idea I have posted this weeks up here I am not looking forward to week 4:shake:

im sure my first thoughts were the same as most people, but i think ive thought of an out-of-the-box idea

edit: question removed as i've thought of another way round my idea :)

Excuse me for wading in here... just being nosey - I'm not actually doing the 52 this year.

Anyway - no offence to anyone but could I just say I'm suprised by how many "Urgh - horrible theme" type comments there have been over the last three weeks. I'm really thinking of Simon - I know we all got a bit tired and cranky over some of the themes last year but I'm sure most of us at least started out on a positive note. It must be a bit depressing for Simon to post up the theme only for people to say how nasty it is

I'm sure I did my fair share of moaning last year but I can tell you if you are not positive about it now, there is a good chance you won't see week 52...

Good luck everyone ;)

I'm loving the themes, I'm really liking the look of some of the more difficult themes I spotted in the list too. I had to pull a joker on week 2 due to time and weather issues, but I'm hoping to revoke it and do the shot I had in mind at some point over the next 49 weeks when the opportunity arises.

Personally I don't see people posting "urgh - horrible theme" meaning what they're actually saying. I think it's more "omg, what the hell am I gonna do for this? this'll really challenge me!" (or at least I like to think so) :)

Some of them are so easy and obvious I think they're harder than the more "challenging" ones. I think too many people feel worried they'll fall into shooting a stereotypical too-obvious image for a given theme.

I know what you mean and I don't think I worded my first post brilliantly - basically I was saying: try to enjoy the challange and be positive about it as to be completely honest - it only gets harder as the year goes on!

I'm feeling very challenged -

and I keep looking at the dog I'm fostering at the moment -

and he's just had his bits off......

and he's just had his bits off

So he's had "the chop" huh? You know, that's given me an idea already... a couple of pickled grapes, in a jam jar, with him in the background. ;)

I quite like the more challenging themes; they get you thinking more :)

I haven't done my picture for this week yet, hopefully I'll be creating it tonight. I haven't looked at what anyone else has done so far incase anyone has had the same idea as me :)

still struggling, all of my ideas are sooo cliche!
There's nothing wrong with cliches. Just try to shoot it from a new perspective. :)

Had a few ideas but they were too similar to other peoples or too cliche that I decided not to.
One thing I've tried to not do is look at other peoples' piccies before I try to shoot one of my own on things like this.

I had a shot in my mind almost as soon as I saw the theme (hopefully something nobody else did, heh). A quick trip down to a couple of shops and I have all my props except one. Off to my mother's house tomorrow to take the shot there as I know she has what I'm missing. :D

Ended up enjoying this one, got a bit creative in the end. I am trying not to look at 52's before I take my own shot, but I think it doesn't much matter if you look. I wouldn't so much copy a shot as copy an idea.

For example, the chappie who did the sliced fruit with cream and dark background (I forget who it was). You simply couldn't copy it as a shot. You could copy the idea and the learning experience of shooting it would be fantastic, "copying" that shot would probably lead to more learning than thinking of your own shot, and definitely more than the three log shots that were my first three candidates, basically snap shots when I saw something chopped.

Simon does not choose them he picks them out of a hat, so I expect he is doing some of the Urghhhhhhhhhhh!! also

Bah, I'm addicted, looking for next weeks theme already...

Looks like I'm going to fall behind for the first time in 55 weeks... ah well...

I've fallen behind already too! Hoping not to do it again ...

I managed to get something done today. So I've managed not to fall behind, it's not great and isn't what I wanted but hey ho.
