16.5K miles 2008; sounds like an ex hire car. Everyone I get seems to have a little sticker on saying must be returned by 16K or face big penalties

It will be, as you say, an ex-daily rental, most nearly-new stuff at the big dealers and supermarkets are. Pity the reg number isn't shown, you can usually tell which fleet it has come from by the area indicator part of the number.

looks like all the 57 plate ones have gone, the 08 plates were £500 dearer @ £6500,still a billy bargain

I think it's probably just about the going rate now just about everything has taken a big tumble- 56 plates were doing £37-3900 at the auction on Friday, after auction fees, allowing £500 between each plate change and a £1k dealer mark up that would come out about right

Prices have crashed recently due to the looming 'recession'. I bought an 07 Astra SRI XP a year past in september, tried to trade it in a year later and they offered me pennies for it. Same car with same mileage a year later was worth considerably less from the same garage.

Buyers market and all that.
