20 Stunning Weather Shots By A Professional Storm Chaser

Some stunning photos there.

I have worked/lived in Iowa in the early nineties and some of the weather extremes are incredible. Although this was a long time before I started my photography hobby with a decent camera. I remember going to Walmart and buying one of the Kodak Instant Cameras just for general snapping. Probably chucked the photos by now with two house moves.

Some great shots there. I wasn't expecting to see the TIV (tornado intercept vehicle, featured in Storm Chasers on TV if anyone hasn't seen it). I don't think Mike Hollingshead is a part of their team so interesting to see that he caught them in action trying to intercept the tornado.

That vehicle it awesome. It's basically an armoured truck designed to get inside tornadoes and film them. When they get in place, big spikes go into the ground and the side plates drop down to stop the wind getting underneath and flipping them. The team who ran it were not so much after research like most storm chasers, but more after the perfect movie shot. It was designed by film director Sean Casey.

Absolutely phenomenal. As dangerous as it is. This would be on top of my wish list of things to capture with my camera. Not sure I could justify to the wife a trip to the states to chase storms though :D

It's in my top ten as well, that and active volcanoes. Just don't take your wife, take me

Some truly outstanding work. I love his shot with armed vehicle in the foreground - it kind of suggest how much fun was coming his way :) Some other ones look a lot safer though

Some cracking shots there, it's definitely something on the bucket list :D

Hi, Some of the best storm shots I've seen for a long time. "Excellent Stuff".(y)

Same here, done the volcano one it was fantastic, one of the best things i have done :)
You don't know how jealous I am lol. I love volcanoes. In primary school we studied volcanoes and loved them since. I remember going home to my parents at the age of eight and telling them I want to be a volcanologist. I don't know where I went wrong because now I'm a spray painter lol. Really want to see a lava flow in person at some point, especially out in Hawaii. If I get to witness that I will die happy.
