Looking at the sizes of the Allen type (T?) wrenches..................just how universal are they ~ just for Smallrig gear???

It depends on what gear you use I suppose. I normally carry a few Allen keys in my bag and always have a Swiss Army knife or multi-tool on me, but they have blades which I wouldn't want to carry in some places. Hopefully, this will be better - it comes well recommended.

Hmmm! plates are Wimberley and Acra....Tripod & Monopod (with a Sirui L-10 head on it) are Manfrotto.
 
I find 3mm & 4mm are the commonest sizes so they're covered.

Thanks for the insight.

I have checked the type (not the sizes) of the fixings on the plates and one has both Allen key centre and slot for a flat bladed screwdriver of the size I think I have used a 20p coin on in the past. The screwdriver on this multi-tool looks quite 'thick' so fingers crossed it will be fine for such 'ready to hand' tightness checking and/or removal for cleaning as might be needed sometimes.............................so I have ordered one.

Thanks to @Sky for the heads up and his comments in post #8 ~ it is a good idea to have a multi-tool aimed at photographic gear that has the common tools on it, in the kit bag :)

The Allen key will be 4mm as this seems to be universal for baseplates. Apart, that is, from the one on my GX9 which has a slot and a finger loop....
Years ago I bought a little Allen key tool from the shop I used to work in but it's been hiding somewhere for a considerable period so I've ordered one of the Smallrig tools too.

Looked at the Tracking and it is coming from Germany.....................now in the UK just a few miles away....................but suspect the deliverer is already on his rounds today :( so will come tomorrow, as initially scheduled :)
 
The discount has now been discontinued. :(

Oh well, it's still a great little tool even though it's full price again.
 
Received mine today. Nice and neat and seems well made. Hex 4 and nifty flat screwdriver are what I will mainly use it for.
