That EOS5d2 looks tempting - but I didn't really want that kit lens... Anyone need a 24-105?
 
I managed to get in last week when they had the 5d on it's own. I am sure you could sell that lens quite easily...

If I gave it away for free - I'd not be saving anything on the body.

Cheapest online for the lens appears to be about £750 - so this kit is £2799 minus 20% - £560 - results in the kit costing £2240.

Cheapest current 5d2 I can find is about £1799 - cheapest lens is £749 total = £2548 - £308 difference. Proportionately the camera is more expensive - so maybe the lens could be sold on at £625? and the camera kept for £1615 - a saving of £125 on the lens for someone - and £185 on the camera for me. (Proportionately the lens gets the bigger discount).

Would something like this interest anyone? A joint purchase? Anyone actually need a 24-105mm?

I hope this isn't classed as a classified ad by the way!! As there's nothing I'm selling or buying off any TP members. It's a thought for discussion I guess?

Would the lens sell for £625 if brand new do you think?
 
cymruchris- I would be happy to buy the lens off you at that price- but, and its a big but, I can't afford it at the moment (else I would have got the kit)- but would be interested in 6 months time :)

Theoretically, it should fly.

This is a good idea - appealing price. But are you really going to buy the kit in the next 2hrs with just another member's word?

If you said 2 days ago, I'd have bitten your hand off.
 
To be fair - I couldn't wait 6 months - it would be up for sale as soon as it was received... Just wondered whether that price point would be appealing to the wider TP community... £625 (plus postage) and a copy of the invoice with relevant details exchanged should there be an issue with the lens. (I'd be happy to test it first before sending to make sure it worked)... Would people pay £625 for a brand new - but technically second hand lens?

Having just searched the archives - they have sold second hand for £640 - so not out of this world to expect a similar price for a brand new second hand one... Does anyone know if the 5d2 kit comes in one box - or two?

Looks like they've withdrawn the 5d - it's gone!

(Found it in my internet history - it's now showing out of stock - looks like some of you might have got a bargain?)

There was loads earlier. Some nice monitors and external HDD's at a good price. All gone now by the looks of it.

I got mine. Ordered on Monday and received it on Friday.

No problem about the camera. I ordered Nikon D5000 Kit. It costs me totally 425 after the 20% off, 15 first buy off, and 17.5 quicdo cash back. Amazing price. It is cheaper than the price of body only any where in the world.

I can reduce the price down further if someone would like that kit lens.

Cdiscount offers a good service. They send me an email during Thursday evening and another text message on Friday morning regarding that the camera will arrive between 14.30-17.30.
 
Yea, I got my camera on the Friday- a week after I ordered it, but they did have a problem with stock. Saved so much money :)
