20% off eBay today only

@stumeech does this code need a minimum spend and does it have any other stipulations? I wouldn't mind a new lens or flashgun!

It only applies to purchases using Paypal.

Thanks for that. I always pay via PayPal so shouldn't be an issue? Was looking at a Nikon SB-700 flashgun. Will see if any bargains to be had.

Sorry, I was posting while rushing to work! £20 minimum, have to pay with PayPal, doesn't give a discount on postage.

There were running this a while ago too - I used it to get 20% of an LX100 - saved me almost £150. Nice :)

Plus, you can register your ebay account to your Nectar account to get (and redeem) Nectar points.

Cheers for the update. I don't mind paying with PayPal as I had assumed that was the norm unless you have to have funds in the account and not via credit card via PayPal.

Thanks for the heads-up, 20% off a Minolta MD 70-210/4 I'd been watching for a couple of weeks tipped my finger on the buy button..

Do you add it as a coupon at the end? Keeps saying 'voucher has zero balance' when I try to add it.

Yes, it's a coupon added just before you pay..

Probably a good thing! Might end up buying more things! Chuffed with my new monitor :ty:

The voucher was pulled by eBay, the story circulating is that it was intended only for the use of the few that received the original email. But they chose a generic voucher code rather than a recipient unique code, and once it hit social media, the national press, HDUK, etc. it went viral and they lost control.

Sometime early in the afternoon it stopped being accepted. I gather it's upset a few people that placed orders and expected the discount to be retrospective even after they had the error message saying there were no funds remaining.

Interestingly I was one of the people to receive the email from eBay, but the email I actually noticed was one from vouchercodes.co.uk which came through at almost the same time.

Sorry if I helped to add to the demise of the code from TP members buying up left right and centre ;-)

I wonder how this stands though, as they must be on dodgy legal ground?
These were the only T&C's on the mail - nothing about ebay reserving the right to pull the code:

Code is apparently working again.

Yup - really wierd but fab news!

I won a guitar amp worth £600 new at the weekend - was a steal at £250. Tried the code earlier and it didn't work but tried tonight and now the amp is costing only £200!

I wonder who takes the hit with the discount?

I got an invoice from Dabs Outlet for the full amount but my ebay payment shows the discount to have been allowed. it looks like a bit a disaster for someone!

When I queried the invoice with Dabs they said the discount only applied to click and collect orders......:naughty:

Ebay take the 'hit', no doubt about that.
but they're getting 10% of the value in fees from the seller, and near as damnit 5% from paypal (until they finally split) - so they're really only taking about a 5% hit - and probably worth it for the extra revenue it generates.

As it happens I've just had a reply from ebay to my whinge on twitter about them:
"Hi, we will be in touch with members who were affected over the coming days. Thanks ^C"

I managed to get a couple of tripods discounted with this code yesterday so am happy. I did hear that they pulled the code for a while because it apparently worked on the Australian eBay site so they had to fix it and then they pulled it again at around 10pm thus ending the offer.

There was an official response to the complains on the eBay community forum http://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Buyer-Central/eBay-Coupon-not-working/m-p/4286045#M113174

I couldn't get mine to work Monday so contacted them via the chat option yesterday and had a moan.
The Ebay representative asked me what I wanted to buy so I gave him the item number and he told me to buy it and they will refund the 20% to my Paypal account within 14 days.

Nice new Benro Carbon fibre gimbal arrived today :)

so how do you check if a code will be accepted without actually buying something, dont want to spend £500 to find out the code doesnt work
