Guys,

Here's a link describing the theft of my camera equipment (to save me posting everything here as well).

I will shortly be posting a list of serial numbers and updating this thread as and when. Most of the numbers were cut out and posted off to Canon UK to claim the cashback, so am in the process of contacting them for relevant info.

Obviously, please bear this in mind, especially those in and around Norwich

Cheers, Mark

Bummer. What were the circumstances that lead to the loss/theft?

Could be a good chance to switch to Nikon though ;-)

i read the start of your other thread, and just wanted to give some advice.
Dont count your chickens.. just because you are insured doesnt mean you will get any money or replacement items.
i didnt read the whole thread so apologies if it says later on that you already have the money :)

truly sorry to hear the news-some people just cannot be helped:(

Sorry to read this and I hope you get replacements.

I have to say that I find it odd that you would leave a bag with 6g`s in it unattended. I photograph a lot on private land and the bag stays with me at all times.

Thanks all..

Fracster...I thought it would be safe at somewhere like a nature reserve. Sometimes, although regrettably now, you just wanna put the bag down. It weighed a ton and as I stated on the WEX forum, I got distracted by a great spotted, drumming on a tree.

If it happened in the middle of town, or just on the outskirts, I could understand it, but most people who visit at the time the incident happened, were elderly. Also I would have thought we're all there for the same reason, to appreciate wildlife.

Sprog, I do like your sense of humour:lol: I don't need extra problems

Just damned bad luck then, as said, I do hope you get everything replaced.

Serves as a warning to us all I suppose, ****er, but that is what society is like.............

Yep, if there's one thing I learnt, it was that. Hopefully by posting the news, it'll serve to make peeps on here aware that stuff can be nicked anywhere.

The nature reserve is about 8 miles north east of Norwich and is fairly isolated..

They have, fortunately my policy covers loss and theft in and away from the home as well as accidental damage in and away from the home.

The final settlement amount is in dispute though, I feel it should be £2,800 more. However, £4,000 should be in my account by Weds, so I can get the Canon 300mm f2.8L, a replacement 40D with grip and some other bits which were stolen...

Cheers, Mark

i wish i'd used the same company as you then
mine told me to get stuffed because there was no sign of forced entry

Gutted for you. You have forced me to take ALL my camera gear, and stick it in the bedroom this evening, just you made me realise how sh*t it would be, and if heaven forbid, someone did get in, I would not want my camera to go :(

Guy across the road from me got burgled 3 years ago, he somehow forgot to lock his front door. Oppertunists worked this out, went in, took his car keys, and nicked 4 of his motors at 3am as he slept.

I know how it sounds, but the guy is genuine. Anyhoo, within a week, I had ADT in and every single entry point was secured and alarmed as much as possible :D

Fort knocks.

Gary.

I'm with ING Direct, if it helps. Maybe worth giving them a try and see whether they'll cover you for what you're looking for.

Their number BTW is 0800 328 8830

Incidents like this really bring home the fact that these days, you can't leave anything anywhere. I'm only 36 but things aren't what they used to be when I was a kid.

Better news today...the insurance money has arrived in my account, Kerso has been paid, so will now sit back and wait for the toys to arrive :woot: Really really looking forward to it, after a difficault couple of weeks to say the least....

Cheers, Mark
