I have the second one you link to (the APO DG Macro)

This is the newer version of the first link. Well I thought so anyway. (Normally that has been the case with this lens, those two versions being sold, and one being the newer version of the other.

Normally you can tell the newer one from the old by the designation APO, which means the lens has been built with Special Low Dispersion glass to minimize colour aberration.

So to check if its the newer version you look for APO, and Super Macro II.

However, the two lenses you posted differ by the DG Designation.
DG on sigma lenses simply means , and I copy from Sigma's website

DG (DG Lens)
These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.

So in short answer to your question...I'd go for the second one, that's the newest one, and the one I (and many others on here) have. Not sure if they have the name slightly wrong on the other one (and it is, infact the non APO version).

:agree: Nice bit of kit, and well worth it's surprisingly low price. Marcel, myself and many others on here sing this one's praises on a regular basis.

The seal pics I posted over on the sharing section from last Sunday were ALL taken using mine.....

*edit* shop about a bit though - you can do better than that price now I believe.....

thanks guys, just what i needed to hear :)

That sounds about right, the non APO version is about £99, and I believe it's quite inferior to the updated APO DG Macro II version, which is around £150.

I got mine from Onestop-Digital, for £114.99. However, it's a Hong Kong seller so there are considerations to think about when buying from there.

The two lenses are almost the same, except that the second one is the new version. The difference being a 'special' coating on the new one for digital cameras, nothing major in the way they work or the results you'll get from either. I have the earlier one but I wouldn't buy it over the new one now unless there was a big price difference.
