1) How do I put a border/frame around a shot? Cannot find the function for that.

2) What can you do if you have a shot where the sky was cloudless and thus, just a mass of blue or white etc?

On the first question, not sure about in v6 but in v5 there are borders in the drop down in Artwork and effects on the east side of my editing screen. However I use the image tool on the top toolbar then resize>canvas size>then enter a low number such as 0.5 in the width and height boxes under new size and choose white in the drop down in the canvas size extension then repeat with 1.0 and black to get a two tone border with a thin white and thick black border. You need to ensure the Anchor has arrows pointing in all directions so the extension extends around all sides of the image.

On question 2 did you take the picture in RAW can you recover any mix of colours in the conversion or you could take another sky from another picture and replace the monotone sky in the original.

Thanks.
Just noted, today had some fantastic light, but the sky was just a mass of cloudless blue.
I wondered if others simply rely on editing after or dont bother with landscapes on such a day, lol.
Eh, I wish I could learn all this stuff in a week.

If it's blue, I can't see the problem ( replace it, if you don't like it )
If it is burnt out you can only replace it. Think about buying a graduated ND filter to avoid this in the future:thumbs:

Thanks, shall look at those, else see if there is a book available on using elements.

Adding in prettier skies later has as much appeal to me as getting out an easel and watercolours and painting a picture of the scene, and thats not a lot. :) It's simply not what I take photographs for.

If the sky is a boring blue, I'll still go out and take pictures as not all pictures will suffer from a solid blue sky after all, but any shot that I think would benefit from a nicer sky I'll remember where I was and wait for more suitable weather on another day. Landscapes, by their nature, usually aren't going anywhere.
