I have not even opened the box yet!!

O.K, good start. Now open the boxes, take them out, then give them a few scratches and burn the reciepts so you CAN'T TAKE THEM BACK OR CHANGE YOUR MIND :D

When you've done that, go out and enjoy

should've bought the D3000.....

Another comment like that and you'll be hunted down by just about every member who has posted in this thread :bat:

Now that it's all over I'm left wondering....what am I going to do now????? This thread meant so much to me and now it's over and my life seems so empty and pointless :(

well you could always read the one he started on AVF last night......:bang:

Both great cameras but get the Canon, if you want value for money. It comes with a free software for editing your pics. With nikon, you have to pay another £80ish I think.

Edit: sorry didnt read the last bit... op bought canon!

Congrats on your new camera. That battery must have enough charge to go out before the light fades!

Glad you have decided on one. I was losing the will to live!!! ;)

Well took about 30 odd pics tonight, indoors of my daughter. Awesome is the only word to use. Very pleased with the camera even though i have a mountain to learn.

Will be out with wife on sat and sunday before we have a week off next week and go on hols here and there. I will try to post a pic or 2 on here if i can.

Again, thanks all for you strong patience and help. It has been tough for me to decide but with not a lot of money to spend as money is very tight at the moment i am glad i went with the Canon. Budget has been very tight and expenses are such that i could not venture over the £400 much.

I just wanted to make sure that my first DSLR was the right one and i think that having Jessops cock up on a missing lens in the D3000 box and then once more with the delivery of a replacement, finally openend my mind to what i really wanted, a Canon!!

Thanks guys and Gals :thankyou:

Someone just took out Richie with a sniper rifle....

I think you've made a great choice.

If I was looking for a small bodied Canon DSLR I'd pick the 1000D as it does everything I want and it's cheaper than the others (which have features I'd probably never use) in the range so you can spend more on lenses.

Thanks. Already starting to think about getting a bigger zoom, say 18-135!

Oh no! That's where it all starts leading to huge CC bills possible divorce and a room full of camera gear.

Welcome to the club ;)

I'm a little confused? Missing lens? Cocked up delivery? You told us they had no stock and that was an easy one to fix as every other store except the one you went in to had stock!

Was about to buy one in the store when they openend the box and the kit lens was missing (Box not sealed). They had none left.

They told me one would be available on the sat, then informed me i would have to wait til the following tuesday. This was all said in a previous post.

Obviously you are bound to dislike those facts as you work for Jessops!! :suspect:

I don't care either way. But one thing I made clear twice was that I would get one down to your store by Sat. That's nothing to do with where I work it was because a member on here needed help and I was in a position to help. If you want to ignore the fact that I would have got one to you then fine but don't then later claim you did not buy a certain camera becuase of delivery cock up

It was a delivery cock up by the store! They told me i wouold have one on the sat and then later said they could not get me one until the following tuesday!!

Thanks for your kind offer mate but i think the delay made me realise that what i really wanted was the Canon!!

I did ask Jessops if they could match / better the other camera stores offer but they stated no so i then proceeded to buy the kit etc at the local camera shop.

Update guys:

Don't cry!!!

Right, managed to get my money back on the 1000D as i 'was' going to buy my mates 550D.

Today, i get a call off of him. His daughter knocked the camera out of his hand while she was running down the stairs. Suffice to say, it bounced to the bottom and landed on his concrete hallway floor (In the process of extending house).

The lens decided to break off of the camera and now it rattles like a load of glass in a tin can! He is gutted, i am gutted! He is going to try to claim off of house insurance.

Anyway, this leaves me without a CAMERA!!

We are on hols now and i am using my netbook to type this. My mate was supposed to be bringing me the camera tonight as i am at a caravan park where he is coming to stay with his family.

So, back to square one.

Obviously i can't afford a new 550D. I returned the 1000D which i thought was great but now not sure what to do!

My wife says i should just buy the Pentax K-x as it does HD video recording thus saving buying a cam. The A450 is still at £299 at the local comet store.

I have ordered a good SDHC card, a good exposure help book and a rocket blower! All i need now is the blooming camera!! lol

So guys.

Pentax K-x (Which my mate has been asking about) or

A450.

I like the live view and HD recording of the Pentax. Don't care about the non lit AF points.

A450 has good reviews and is only £299.

Dare i say it, Help!! :help::help::help::help::help:

There are no words.

well, there are actually............but not here

"Right, managed to get my money back on the 1000D "...how..? as you had used it

"His daughter knocked the camera out of his hand"
frankly this is all to much of a co-incidence.............

Is this for real, thought this thread was long dead and buried :dummy: :cuckoo::bonk::gag: :annoyed::schtum::exit::boxer::whistling::crowded::bang:

Buy a P&S

I had a customer like you once, he bought 6 DSLR's over a year and brought each one back at 29 days' 1 day before the money back guarantee.

He's now no longer welcome because the cameras were always unsellable as new and he took 3 hours in store each time he bought one, and when he brought it back, explaining to us why the camera was not right for him.

.
after this comment in AVF..

"So wait. In the space of a couple of days it's gone from buying a D3000 to wanting a K-x or Sony and then buying a Canon 1000D?"
.
the thread was CLOSED ....about time it was here too...?

just buy the sony a450, its a camera and it takes photo's and thats all you need to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So did the 1000D but that was not good enough. Each time I post on this thread I think to myself there's 60 seconds of my life I'll never get back. But it's like watching a car crash in slow motion...

One thing i noticed with the 1000D was the slow buffer. But, the only reason i returned it was because i was going to buy my mates 550D for a great price.

Not my fault it got trashed.

Now i have to decide what to do all over again.

This time i have 2 choices, the K-x or A450, simples, or in my case, not!

Have you took the time to read through this thread from start to finish:D

Edit .........will it ever finish:lol:

IMO the crunch came when he refused BOTH your offers to "help out a fellow member" then became defensive when questioned

we are of the same thoughts but I said a "train crash"...:lol:
