Never done any PP & now I've got the D90 & started using it a lot more, I want to start editing them, touching them up ect

So what software can you recommend to me to start with, want some think fairly easy to get used to and self learn. Read a lot about lighroom and photoshop? Any versions to go with ect

I use Light room 4 and am happy with it. You can download a trial version to see if you like it.

Yeah just looked at Light Room 4, what's the difference between Light Room & Photoshop? Want to use the software for both cropping and adjusting colour's lighting ect in day to day photo's but also can you use this software for when doing portraits of people ect to adjust skin tone ect?

If you have not already got it download View NX2 from Nikon.

It has
Exp comp
WB
Picture Control
Sharpness
Contrast
Brightness
Highlight Protection
Shadow Protection
D Lighting
Colour booster
Crop
Straighten
Auto Red Eye
Axial CA
Auto Lateral CA

You can also edit metadata, batch process etc.

As it is Nikon software it will read and apply all your camera settings to NEF files should you shoot raw.

It does not allow you to apply changes selectively though - any changes affect the whole image.

Oh - and it is free :)

Look at it this way, lightroom is good at doing a few things to a lot of photographs, photoshop does a lot of things to a few photographs.

Being serious, lightroom is good for the basic editing and managing your images, photoshop isn;t so good at editing large numbers of images but can do a lot more creative editing, they compliment each other, ideally have both is you can afford it.
