Letting people know you profess to be a photographer has its dangers. Having shown some friends some of my pics I was asked if I could do some promo shots for the Katona Twins - a classical guitar duo. I agreed. And then was really nervous as this was the first time I'd been commissioned to do anything of this sort.
Deciding the way forward was to do it properly, rather than at half cock, I booked a studio and told them they were to bring their guitars and changes of clothes. Also roped a friend in to help with general running around.
I also decided to shoot "tethered" to the pc so the guys could get instant feedback. I have mixed feelings about that because they kept looking over at the pc when they should have been looking at the camera. But overall, it worked because it made both them and me relax a bit more as we could see - at reasonable size - that the shots were looking reasonable.
It seemed to go ok in the end. I took about 160 shots. Here's one of them. (Its got jpg compression artefacts, I know)
Thanks also go to Keith at Metropolis Studios in Liverpool who helped me set up the lights. He's also a member (but occasional visitor I think) on here.
