hi just got a 450d + 17-85 + 55-250.Some great shots with auto.Do you just jump into manual or step up through Tv+Av.For processing whats best,Canon's own,Photoshop(elements 0r others) gimp etc.Any advice welcome as totaly confused.
Just pick one particular aspect of your camera and read up on it and play with it until you are comfortable then move on to something else
This is how I started, so not bad advice, but I was on a 35mm SLRI think i would start shooting in "P" this is auto for shutter and aperture, but allows you to play with some of the other basic functions..
Try just shooting and changing lens`, get used to the feel of the camera first then explore - m, av and tv later...

Hi all, my first post as well!
Not a DSLR, but I got a fuji s2000hd camera at the weekend. Its my first one that isn't a pocket point and click job so hoping that it's decent enough to get some enjoyable shots!
