Hi guys,
I finally got round to taking my camera in for a sensor clean today, only to turn up and be told "oh, we're not allowed to do those, you'll need to send it to canon"... is that true?
I can send it to canon no problem, just seemed unusual?

Thanks

I suspect that it is the dealer's decision rather than Canon forbidding it. The filter on the 1DxII (and 5DS-5DSR) is apparently more fragile than that on earlier bodies and this increases the likelyhood of damage during cleaning.

Have cleaned all my ones myself now since the 1D MKIII.

Never damaged either the 1DX or 1DX MKII sensors so far by using the correct products and I clean the sensor probably every other weekend during race season.

If you have enough products to register then go CPS as its a fair quicker turn around from Canon themselves but last time I had my one in with them for a fault it had more dust bunnies and oil spots on it when it came back than before I sent it!

I purchase all my cleaning stuff from these guys and they are very good with advice also https://www.cameraclean.co.uk/index.php

And Canon CPS is as follows but check the link out for required gear you need to qualify

Thanks guys, I went with canon in the end.
