Thinking about buying a used eos1d mkii and I was just wondering if anybody had a rough idea how much a new shutter would cost. Also could I use a 2x converter with my 70-200f4L. Sorry the title should read eos 1d not ds

I had my 1dmk2 shutter replaced by Lehman about 18 months ago at approx 180k, seem to remember it was about £250

I had a new shutter from Canon Elstree on my 1Ds and it was £220 +VAT IIRC.

As the 1D will focus at f8 so you can use it with a 70-200 f4 and 2x converter. I'd advise you get a good quality converter, such as the Canon MkIII 2x, as it will give you the best IQ possible. You will get some image degradation with a converter but I use the MkIII 2x and 70-200 f2.8 IS L MkII lens and still get great IQ with it.
