Presently shooting with an EOS 5D Mk1, fancy a change and moving to the likes of the 1Ds Mk2 body, these seem to sell used for around £900 ish...

Anyone here have experience owning/using a 1Ds Mk2 body? Would love to hear your thoughts and overall opinion please, thanks.

I've always liked the sturdy/chunky look of the EOS 1D series, very 'Pro' like. I don't mind the weight as I've heard the 1Ds Mk2 is quite a heavy beast.
 
I've still got one, it is great, unmatched build quality, very quick AF, lovely IQ, upto ISO1600 is very very useable.

Downsides are the weight (I've got a neck injury after a car crash and unless I use a Black Rapid it pulls my neck too much), batteries are heavy old beasts to carry but they last for ages, the charger for the batteries are silly money if you need to replace them. The LCD is small by modern standards and no liveview.

All in all go for it, you'll not be disappointed.
 
One thing I never figured out (ive been thinking of doing the same) is if the screen is the same as or worse than the 5Dmk1 with the 1*** serial numbers.

Apparently Canon replaced the LCD display on 5Dmk1's with serial numbers starting 2 upwards. I have one with a 1*** serial and my screen has a distinctive green hue to it!!

Also Im not sure if the button system would annoy me... having to press two buttons to change the ISO especially...

Does the 1Dsmk2 have Auto ISO?

I've got one and it's still producing great images, probably better than ever thanks to new LR4. I honestly wouldn't think 5DII comes close (primitive AF, poor build, similar IQ, bad shadow noise). There are some issues like awful batteries or rubbish screen though, but they are less important photographically.
I'm getting 5D3 soonish, and I'll probably get rid of 1D3 keeping 1Ds2 as a backup and 2nd body

Roughly what I did, got rid of a 1D2 and kept 1Ds2 and 5D3, it is a good combination although I am quite tempted to chop the 1Ds2 in for a 6D.

I'd rather 2x5d3 or an extra 1ds3 or 1d4. As you can see I'm not keen on baby size body with 15 year old AF system.
 
Brilliant cam, let down only with small screen, weight and annoying system of holding down a combination of button to get change some settings. Very good AF system even by todays standard and amazing picture quality, it's not a high ISO beast but work within it's limits and it will reward you accordingly.

Edit- and the battery charger is quite bulky!
