1dmkIV raw file.. what to use?

OK just took my first raw pic.. last time i did raw i used photoshop..or bibble .seems so long ago... but neither recognise this file.. what do i need to do?
 
DPP, it came on the cd, in the box your camera came in. :D

Tony, if you use Photoshop, you will need to find the version of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) that will open the MKIV files, BUT it depends on what version of PS you have as some of the earlier versions may not support the mkIV.

If you are shooting raw, you really need a converter, Lightroom & PS are the most popular then, depending if you are mac or PC, there are others too. Canon DPP actually reads the raw files pretty good and it is free.

If you just want a raw viewer, I use Faststone (PC only)

ACR 5.6 is only compatible with Photoshop CS4, Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and 8.0. Compatibility with Photoshop Elements 6.0 is lost.

You need at least ACR of 5.6 (all later ones will be OK)

I hold off till we get the latest version of DPP, reading on the USA sites people who are now test it and it's DLO (Digital Lens Optimisation) which could turn out to be a fantastic tool, and with inbuilt HDR (not your thing but..) and in map geotagging DPP is moving up in the world.
