Folks,

I usually hate threads like this but really need some views.

For roughly the same price a new 50D or "run in" 1D mk2 (50K) can be had.

Simple question - is the 1D mk2 a step backwards compared to 50D.

I am intrested in mainly wildlife some portraits. I have been round the loop so many times I don't know if up is down.

Any comments or views would be great

Cheers

Rob,

I've got both options. The 50D certainly produces the better results (for me, at least) in most conditions. However, if your subject needs good and fast accurate AF then the 1DII is the beast to have.
The other issue would be your lenses. If you're struggling for length then the 50D will help out...pixels and heavier crop factor...but the lens needs to have good resolving power to make use of all those extra pixels.

I'd ditch my 1DII before the 50D but forever mourn the loss of its brilliant AF on BIF and alike.

Bob,

It's the AF performance that I am after as I am trying to get small birds in flight. Thanks for the reply I guess a 1D might be the jobbie.

Cheers
