1D4 refurbs at Canon Outlet on eBay

I think that's too much.

I think that's too much.

Curious as to why? UK stock selling for £3400 and even Grey Sock selling for £2900, I would have thought a genuine UK model even reconditioned with a full 1 year UK warranty would be worth about £2600.

can you imagine the shutter count on these? New MkIV's come with 2 year warranty

Sellers description of a "Refurb" below, can't imagine many of them being a demo product from a trade fair when you look at the volume of items sold by them.

Refurbished products are 100% OK and therefore we can offer them with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. There is nothing wrong with these products! All refurbished products are sealed with an authentic Canon seal!

We just can't sell a refurbished item as new because...

- ...it was used as demo product (at trade fairs etc.), or

- ...the outside carton box was slightly damaged during transportation (and then replaced by a neutral brown packaging), or

- ...it was sold and the box was opened. Then the item got returned to Canon.

Trust me they are marvellous!
If one goes for the right money on there now i will not hesitate to buy it as a 2nd mk4

I had a 1D2 from them 5 Years ago and it is still going strong, no problems at all it's taken almost double what it should have (touch wood i've not jinxed myself)

As stated above and confirmed when i phoned them most of their refurbs have not done any serious shots anyway.

There are always lots of good deals coming up on there even with lenses ;-)

Regards,
Jon.S

The outlet have made it so you can buy 3 things over 3 months now, still the same people buying things though.

They just open up new accounts, so many buyers with 100% activity with this seller etc.

When the 7d,s first hit the outlet one went for £670 odd,now they seem to be 800-920 ish

Recent sales have completed at around the £2600 mark. More available here....

There that was worth the £2,700 you just cost me lol
Thanks for the heads up

I've bought 3 cameras and a printer from them in the last two years and I'm convinced they where new! I wonder if it's a way they can sell cheaper by calling it "refurb" without upsetting the retailers?

John

refurb can be new and not used.. just box opened and returned from shop unsold or soemthing silly like that

most of the time the cameras look new, its just the boxes that are tatty.

I had a dog of a 1dmk3 once, looked like it had been through a war zone, 130,000 actuations, got canon to replace it, they found one with 25 actuations :), pristine

Agree that most of the time they are fine, and if its not just sling it back,

Had several 5DIIs off them in the past, 1 was brand new and sealed, 1 had 550 shots on the clock but was mint apart from a bit of dust on the sensor, Canon Elstree gave it a free clean and its been good as gold.

Would not hesitate to buy off them again, best time to buy seems to be early on a weekday as the prices dip a bit then normally and also if you can get in at the start of a batch it seems to help, this recent lot of MKIVs have risen constantly over the past few days.

I got rid of my unused MKIV to stick with 5Ds but If I needed a MKIV this is where I would head its a cracking price for the body.

personally I am now a bit worried :(

Tried paying three times by credit card and the system throws out an error at last minute..

Have emailed seller twice.. have used ebay to contact them and all wiht no reply... today I get an "automated" reminder saying I ahve to pay in X hrs

If there not even looking at emails and messages to there advantage i wonder what the situation will be if any problems and the negative feedback they have (although a small percentage) all cite the no communications ..

Not 100% happy

They are strictly a 9-5 Mon-Fri operation, never been able to contact them outside office hours either. Is it your bank blocking the card due to value (May be owrth checking), have always paid them via paypal so not sure about direct payments to them,

Otherwise a call Monday morning when they open should sort it they are helpful.

Thanks guys ... thats a bit more reassuring... never used them before but had no qualms trying them as well known.. You just get jittery when its thousands of pounds :)

Just noticed they are also now imposing a Limit on the number of products you can buy from them, 2 items within 3 months up to a maximum of 8 per year.

To combat Fraud they say, more likely to stop resellers. But you havent bought any other items off them recently have you Printer? Lens? etc that could be blocking the transaction due to the purchase limit rules.

it doesnt let you bid if you have reached the quota, hence the resellers opening new accounts every 5 minutes to get past it.

Its the payment system thats faulty, well known as well, just read all the negatives about it. If you pay paypal your fine, breezes through.

See my post above :)

Doh, Didnt see that as was posting my reply at the time,

Well thats that one ruled out then!

But speak to them Monday, sure they will sort you out, and like others have said, if you sre not 100% happy with the item you can sling it back for a full refund, although bad ones seem rare from them.

Good Luck, Hope to hear it all goes well and you get a cracker...

Visa Debit is a major debit card issued by Visa in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and other nations of the European Union[1]. Prior to October 2004, the debit card was known as Visa Delta. Since June 2009, the major banks in the UK have begun issuing Visa Debit. Barclays, Bank of Scotland/Halifax, Lloyds TSB, and Santander have already issued the card. HSBC, RBS (including NatWest and Ulster Bank) are currently in the process of migrating to the card from the Maestro debit card.

Have you tried paying via Paypal with your card? There is an option with Paypal to pay this way and not through a normal Paypal account. Money gets charged direct to your credit/debit card just the same as if you paid direct.

PAID AT LAST!!!

I Didnt have my CC linked to paypal..I started the process a couple of days ago,.. go my 1 quid deposit this morning.. enterered the code into paypal and it confirmed.. so then went to pay and its done... cleared out my paypal which only had a couple of hundred and the rest through CC

PHEW AT LAST ... now to wait for the camera :)
