1D MkIV to 7D or vice versa?

Dont know if any one has done either of these. If so what are your thoughts on the swap.

I'd like to go from my 7D to a 1DIV so if you're interested in a straight swap then PM me lol. I don't think there would be much that a 7D could do better than your 1D TBH, don't get me wrong the 7D is a great performer but I don't think it'd outdo the 1D. The only reason I would change is if it were neccessary due to finances.
 
Why would you want to do that!!!!! unless your strap for cash and downgrading. The 1D MKIV is by far the superior camera (by a long way), especially if you're doing action photography or want better ISO performance.
 
I'm sure plenty of people have moved from a 7D to a 1D4. I'm sure ZERO people have ever done the opposite unless in a period of extreme financial stress. It's a no brainer frankly. The only thing that a 7D can do better than a 1D4 is crop at 1.6x, and light things with a small flash.
 
I know it seems a bit strange but i was thinking of swapping my MKIV for a 5DMkIII and a 7D. Maybe i'll just buy a 5DMkIII to go with my MkIV.

I've just recently bought a 1D mkiv & I also have a 7D.

I'm still not 100% with the A.F. on the 1D mkiv but its already better than my 7D & the ISO performance is in a different league.
Hoping to get a lot more from it as I learn more about it.

I've owned 2x 7D's in the past. I then bought a 1D iv - it was one of those "I'll never have enough cash again" moments of extravagance - but it was was a very good choice! The 1D iv is far superior than the 7D. It does take a while to get the AF just right - a bit of T&E - but when you find that sweet spot the camera is superb.

There's a reason why the 1D Mark IV is four times the price of the 7D and it's purely because it is a better camera in every single way. Aside from the recently released 1DX, it is the best sports body in Canon's line-up. I bet there are loads of people constantly making the jump from a 7D to a 1DIV, but I cannot fathom why you'd go the opposite way.

If your main source of income is from sports photography then don't do it. If you're not using the 1DIV to its fullest potential then selling and getting a 5D Mark III may be a good choice. The Mk3 has the same AF system as the 1DX (which completely beasts that of the 7D) and is only slightly behind on the shooting speed at 6fps.
 
I get these daft ideas sometimes. Im very happy with the MkIV but its always good to hear what other photographers have to say. I think i will get a 5D to add to it. Thanks to all for taking the time to post.
 
I'm thinking of replacing the 7D with a 1d Mk4 to go with my 5d3. Ideally I want the 1dx , but another £2k on top though, really worth it over the 1d4??
 
And there's always the option of the 7D mk2 out feb/march that'll most likely be a mini 1d lol
