1D MKIII knackered already :(

I've just been called by Fixation, mine's been repaired and should back with me on Monday, so a 7 day turnaround, not bad.

Let's see how long it lasts this time ...

I got exactly the same message after about three shots yesterday morning, restarted and away it went again. Bit worrying though :(

Mine went in for exactly the same problem to Lehmans. Took 3 weeks to sort and when they sent it back they had damaged the card reader so it had to go back for another 2 weeks and the response from Lehmans "these electronics things have a mind of there own" needless to say i was gob smacked.
As for Canon, as much use as a ashtray on a motor bike.

I joined CPS in case of future problems.

trev.. exact same problems as mine?

I sent mine to colchester on the wed and I phoned them friday to mkake sure it had arrived OK .. she just told me yes... and gave me the same story as pre sending it... will take less than 2 weeks to fix and we send it back.. they wont contact me at all during this process.. which I think is a bit off.. would like to know when fixed and what day coming back .

One things for sure.. using the mkII is a massive step down... I didnt realise.. with the mkIII taking so long to get under control I must have not noticed how much better it is.. But I do notice going back down.

Yeagh canon = useless.. not impressed that the only "help" they gave me was an email witht here web address to find a dealer :(

Hi K,
Yep exactly the same symptoms as you, 4 days before I went to the USA for 3 weeks. Lehmans were initially very good over the phone but when they sent it back with a completely different problem that they had caused and I rang them back complaining they had caused a further fault, there attitude changed completely, hence the "electronics" quote.

Probably asking for trouble as Ive bought a second 1D3, although Ive not gone above 3000 acts on either body. The one that went back had only 1500 on it when the problem started. Both seem to be working fine, but I always have in the back of my mind "when will it happen again"

Completely off topic picking up a Canon 300mm f2.8 IS tomorrow from Calumet in Liverpool can't wait.

I got mine back from Fixation today, all seems fine. Not much explanation of what was wrong with it, apart from a line on the form stating 'Mirror magnet again ?'

Tried it out today and all is fine ... for how long I wonder ?

Thats the problem isnt it guys.. for how long? I will always be wondering :( But like trev hopefully joining the cps will help next time... guessing there will be a next time

Trev.. mkIII plus 300 2.8L I use it for everyhting... ice hockey, football.. everything.. i just cant get over the pictures the combo produces... canon 24-70 or a canon 70-200 just doesnt do the same.. had to calibrate my 300 to the mkIII and once done.... perfect.... jeeeze i am missing my mkIII :(

There customer service seems to have turned into a Joke, after last months fiasco with them taking over a month to do a simple repair on a near new 40D, lets just say my next camera Will be a Nikon.

I find it hard to believe such a big company have such poor UK customer service.

Rant over.

Kipax,..... hope they sort your mkIII out quickly for you :)

AMAZING!!!!! Its back and fixed... I sent wed 24th and its back now sorted.. thats a 3 day turnaround not counting today or sat/sun ... Big up to colchester camera center..

Work carried out as follows
Dismatle camera
repair mirror box

I should damned well think so too!

Oh ye of little faith!

Great news, you must be relieved :)

Just take it back to where you bought it from and demand a replacement or a refund under the sale of goods act.

I find that having a lack of confidence in your equipment will stifle your creativity... :(

All systems seem to suffer spells of hiccups related to reliability, however I am perplexed and somewhat alarmed, by the number of reported problems with Canons "Pro" cameras. I have posted previously regarding this here :-

To hear the OP's reply to his email is very poor customer service IMHO...

My CPS membership email came today.. I will be sent a card but have to allow 6 weeks for delivery...
