hello there,

i'm on my knees begging for help as i cannot seem to find a way to make my new toy to connect with my macbook.

i had already 'EOS utilities' on there from the 400D which has been updated and borrowing the installation cd from work have put on 'EOS Capture' which i've updated. but after connecting cam to comp switching it on and loading up the program there is no communication there at all.

spec,
1d mk2 firmware 1.2.6
macbook, mac os X 10.5.6
eos utilities 2.6.1
eos capture 1.5.0
connecting via usb (canons one which came with the 400D)

whats going on. help please

hi i have a mk2n and have to use firewire to connect up to my mac. not to sure about mk2 but think you may need a firewire lead.

Yeah you do have to use Firewire to talk to the camera, or at least I did with my MKIIN when I had one.
Only problem is I still had the same issue whereby it wouldn't talk to my MacBook Pro no matter what I did yet when I connected it to my PC laptop it worked fine. Before I solved the problem I sold the MKIIN and got a MKIII and I connect this to my Mac Pro no problem using USB.

I know this doesnt help you much but it does one thing, it confirms its not a problem with your camera or Mac, simply a compatibility issue. If you email Canon maybe they can help?

cheers for that guys, went out and grabbed myself a firewire cable which last night didn't work but after a horrible day at work today and a failed sending message with my question to canon which i wrote at 2am last night, it works like a dream.

thank you.
