My 40D broke. Error 99. I can send it for repair, but talking to folks I may be paying £200 for that when I can buy another with 6 months guarentee for about £250 in excellent condition.

I have a chance of a 1D mkII for £350. It's been used in a studio that is closing down. I would use it for studio work mostly, but I do also do other photos, walking about, photos of kids etc.

I have to decide, well, now really!

What do you guys think?

Cheers

I think that £350 is a good price providing its not been bashed about considering it is still a very capable camera. Takes a little getting used to if you have never used one before due to the weight & button layout. Are you able to have a play with it before purchase?

Not really. I have moved from a 400D to a 40D and that was very different. I see that the main issue people had with the 1D2 was the buttons and needing to press two things at once?

I have asked the lady from the studio to hold one for me...I will be over there later on. Hope se does, as I think buttons aside, the 1d seems to be rated higher than the 40D where I have been looking. :)

Cheers

Hi Craig ,

I have only just changed my MK2 after 6/7 years of sports use every week .... an excellent camera in my opinion . Because of some initial problems with my MK4 , I wish I had kept it .
