1D actuations?

Hi guys & gals,
Know this question has been asked a few times but I was wondering how I could find out the number of actuations on my 1D (just arrived :D )
Is it possible to find this out using the image details/info? (I have been banned from buying any programs or lenses until the mortgage has gone through & the demo version of cancount doesn't give you the shutter value - Doh!)

There's a little exif reader programme which most folks use to get this info. I have it somewhere, I'll try to find the freebie link unless someone beats me to it. It has to be a jpeg file to get the info btw.
 
Cheers for that CT but i'm on a mac rather than PC & can't get this program to work :(

Sorry moomike... the exif reader wont even open this file. :shrug:

I had similar probs trying to read a file for Busterboy,

That's not too bad for a used 1D is it? It looks to be in immaculate condition (not even any paint missing from the hotshoe :thinking: )
Was holding my breath & expecting the 50,000 mark - the guy I bought it from said it had only had light amateur use but couldn't tell me the actual number so I was prepared for the worst :)
As soon as I finish the commission I'm working on right now I have a feeling this number may increase a little :D

... anything to compare it too? Like a 350D?

I have owned the 350D & the 20D (which I still have for sale in the classifieds in case anyone is after one :) ) so will try to factor these in too.
Not really had any chance to use the camera yet but should over the weekend & will post my findings asap. - From the few images that I have taken, (mainly to see if the ISO noise is really as bad as everyone on other forums makes out :shake: ) I have recieved very promising results (quality 4mp but I shall see what goes on with that, i'm not one to count pixels, but will see if the picture quality is there) - I live in the most dismally lit, drab, apartment (moving soon though :thumbs: so any result is wonderful for me). Build is obviously pretty hefty, but I have yet to see how this will affect my shooting. Am using the 50mm f1.4 that they used in the original reviews. I may even see if there are any water polo games going on over the weekend - baptism in fire & all that :D .

I got my 1D at the end of May with 2500 on it, it's now 13500 :naughty:

Theres an event on at Spike Island near (or in, am not sure) Liverpool where theres a massive motorbiking meet & i'm thinking this'll be my first proper opportunity to push the camera. I'll post the dates & location as soon as I know in case anyones interested.
P.S. that's your fault by the way Dod - I was happy just sticking to tamer sports until I saw your biking images - awesome :clap: .
 
I think mines's still under 3K.... just about.
 
look forward to seeing them :) Hoping to get down to Leuchars this weekend, there's a Scottish Round on and there's a bit of bad feeling between some of the top riders, could make it interesting :clap: , 3 hour drive though :(
 
Am sure it'll be worth the drive & bet that "bad feeling" will result in some very interesting shots - nothing quite like a good, healthy bit of rivalry when you're shooting round a dirt track at breakneck speeds (so you don't get bored I suppose :lol: )

Anyway to check actuations with a 350 or a 30D?

I did try the above reader, but it gives a totally different result from the EXIF than I know is true.
 
Apparently not Marcel, I had been searching everywhere for a way to find the actuations for my 20D but found nothing but document after document telling me that the only way was to send the cam off to Canon for checking :shake:
 
Ah well Im just curious as to how many actual actuations I did with my 350,a nd also with my current 30D.

I know *roughly*, as I reset the numbering from the start and keep it right through........but it'd be nice to be sure I suppose.
 
I'd really like to know my 20D's actuations too, so I'll keep my eyes open & let you know if anything turns up.
 
For the 300D, might be the same for the 350/30

Same program

2. Take a picture with your Canon EOS Digital Rebel in RAW Format.

3. Copy the RAW file(s) to your HD

4. Open the file with exif reader.

5. Look for the line: Unknown (1817) XXXXX,32703 near the top.

6. XXXXX = how many shutter actuations on your camera.

7. You can test it by taking a couple of photos in sequence and you'll notice the numbers increasing in each shot.
 
not sure what mine's on...about 6k I think...got it with barely a snap taken from canon outlet. minty fresh too :D
 
my poor d70 is sat at 20,000 odd :D

not bad for 15 months.
 
i sent matty a raw file to check with his exif reader, it didn't work on my 20d file

so i still have no idea how many actuations my 20d has done, prolly somewhere between 3 and 4k max
 
Steep, that doesnt work for the 350/30, I tried it not so long ago :( (Unless its a newer way to do it that the one I read, although it does look quite similar).
 
The info is probably there, it's just a matter of finding the correct line.

I suppose it would be possible to run the program, then take a few shots and see what has changed in the output when you run it again? Might take a bit of doing though.
 
I feel positively part time having less than 2000 actuations on mine..lol
 
I bought my D200 at the beginning of August with 1,000 actautions, it's now at 8,600.

Glad it's not film. :eek:
