Jeez that does sound a bit harsh! so you can link to your own site in sigs but you cant link in a normal post...and you cant post anything that somewhere has a link back to here??? (BTW have no idea what the "thing" between here and there was) but that sounds a little patheric :(

Sorry to read about your troubles :(

I can't offer anything to you in the way of constructive advice or opinion. But I would agree it seems to be an overly harsh stance and one that was often slated by certain people on the site you've mentioned when it was enforced on other forums.

I hope that the attitude you've experienced has shown you the difference between our sites.

I don't want this thread turning into a debate about the site mentioned as they WILL be reading our forums and we can both do without old wounds and rifts being brought to the fore again.
Any open bad mouthing of the site will be deleted on site!

So I sent Steve a message asking if my site will be OK once more content is uploaded even with a link to here...I await a reply.

No problem with Pixalo DF, it just made my blood boil that the past can't stay in the PAST All I wanted was opinions, and yes I agree very strongly now this does show you the differences between not only Talk and Pixalo but I imagine Talk and many others.
 
I didn't know this site existed and if that is there sort of way they do business I don't want to. So it seems harsh to me especially since they pulled out TP if they had made it a general no rule breaking that would be one thing but to single out another forum no matter what bad blood exists is just bad business and it'll bite them in the end.

hehe i got automatically registered on pixalo when they used the DB from this site to get aditional names on the list, cant say ive been on more than once, and any emails i get from them are directed to junkmail!

Damn shame thats happened. I just hope this doesn't make things worse. I know how people can get a bit crazy and all that.
 
I think you should take it up with them first.

Something similar happened here and when properly confronted the site staff took a very reasonable view and changed their mind (which is always the more difficult thing to do, even when the correct thing). Perhaps you should direct your campaign there.

There is no doubt strong differences between these parties exist. We do not, however, serve any purpose by trying to leverage those differences although it should be said they should also extend an arm (or olive branch) in order that subscribers are not embroiled in something that really is not of their concern.


Just my opinion.
 
There is no danger of our member base becoming embroiled in anything between the 2 sites as there is nothing going on.

Any hostility they have to us is their concern, we bare no grudge and have moved on with our venture.

Glen has raised a valid point discussing how a perfectly innocent request of critique on his self built website has been met with what he perceives to be pettiness, lets try and keep it on that topic. :)

Now you know I know you guys are my mates and I consider everyone on here very good friends and I wouldn't trade that for anything, its just every once in a while I drift by Pixalo and I posted my Portrait Course review on there a while back, got no replies and thought Oh well, hey ho, but then a couple of weeks ago Dave contacted me asking if I wanted to turn it into a permanent fixture on the site as a 'Beginners Guide' so to speak, I said yep, gave him all my gumph, but haven't heard anything for over a week, so I popped by the other night and thought I'd post about my tweaked site, as I know some peeps on here said they had a few glitches viewing it, then today when i looked for some feed back, the post had been deleted and that was the answer I got.

Its just a shame that whats been has gone and thats how it should be, also I couldn't grasp the 'competition' thing, surely its not about who's got the most members or our sites better than yours, as you all know nobody knows everything, and each of us can learn many things from our peers, regardless of where they reside.

Anyway enough of this, Admins you can close this thread if you like, 'cause basically if my 'custom' is wanted over there, then today shall be the last time I visit....TPF FOR LIFE!:woot:

Not a prob DF, just didn't want it to get to political, I got nowt against them and I think its good members here are 'members' on various forums, but I think this whole 'can't let it lie' from Steve is very immature, I just wanted to share my experience as I was totally miffed :thinking:

thats no way to treat someone, I wouldn't bother the time of day if they can't treat people with a bit of decency. life's too short to worry about it, stick around here where you won't get judged (unless you use a nikon of course.. ;) :D )
 
The only thing is that whatever the rights or wrongs of what was said, it was said in a private message and publishing the contents of a private message without very good reason always worries me a little - private messages should really be just that or they have no real credibility or value.

We certainly don't want to see this develop into any sort of inter -board tong war. :)
