my trusty 17 to 85 is usl has just gone ape sh..
middle of a blooking wedding and i thought my shutter or mirror was locking up.err 99 coming up on the screen and all went rather gloomy thru the viewfinder . swapped camera and luckily didnt miss anything vital. swapped lens onto a different body and .... same prob.switchoff , then on again and its stopped for two or three exposures, then went again.
anyone had a similar prob.?
and of course its out of warranty. :shrug:
 
Done the usual and cleaned the contacts etc. ?
 
Yep, I've had the same problem, unfortunately discovered when selling the lens :(
No idea what the problem is though, as it's still sat on the shelf in front of me!!

Bad luck on the lens but I'm glad you had a backup.

Let this be a warning to anyone that contemplates doing a Wedding without backup kit; it could happen to you.
 
my brother and sister are getting married (seperate weddings) and want me to take pics and i have refused but know i am gonig to anyway. so i will definatley be borrowing a 2nd body.
